GTU Beretta
GTU Beretta
I thought GTUs were only Red white and black. I've never seen a GTU with those rims painted to match the car before. They always had different rims put on after they were shipped out to cars and concepts.
Anyways little back ground. This was my fathers car when it was new. He said he got it in 1988 some time from the GM Tech Center in Warren, MI.
He worked there and painted cars that were concept vehicles or cars that would be put on the show room floor. He specifically remembers taking a Beretta GT and they shipped in the body cladding and decals and were told by how to assemble it.

Re: GTU Beretta
The cars started out as GT's, and from what I can remember were also Z51 equipped (solid rear sway bar and those style wheels, although the wheels were a charcoal color).
It looks like that one may have been a custom one-off; it doesn't have GTU mirrors, or the 16" wheels, or the right window trim. Honestly it appears to be a Maroon GT w/ the Z51 package, body colored wheels, GTU GFX, and the GTU decal added on the side.
Cool history on it either way.

Re: GTU Beretta
I talked to my dad a bit about the car. He said he put the car together right before the auto show in 1988 and after a couple months the car came back and he was offered the chance to buy it and he did.
This one was a concept car and was probably never intended to be sold to the public.

Yah, really cool to hear and see history like that. From people who actually worked there
Is that car still around by any chance?

I haven't seen that car since I was a kid. Not really sure what happened to it over the years.
