Electrical issues...those dam fusable links keep going out!!

Post by DOHC_tuner »

Okay ever since Ive had my Beretta Ive had electrical issues. :O:

First if it sat for one day or two without me driving it...it would not start...something kept killing the battery.

Well I finally took it to a shop to get it fixed...they fixed that.

I also noticed the fusable links kept going out. Both links B and C.

Well I replaced one of them with a fuse holder and that dam thing melted!

Now after the shop replaced everything once again with fusable links it was fine for a while....now another fusable link went out!

Well...LOL I blamed the alarm company for this since they just recently installed an alarm...they had a guy come look at it..told me they wont charge if its the alarm but if not they will charge.

I didnt care since the car is sitting dead with the windows down and we were expecting rain.

I told him I tested the key ignition switch and it is only seeing 3 volts instead of 12. I also checked all the fuses and they were all fine. Well he ran a wire straight from the battery to the ignition...with no fuse

Anyone know the amperage of the fuse that should be on that wire? I want to install a fuse holder or something.

Well I needed my car ASAP since im taking the engine apart on my Turbo Z.

Has anyone had these issues with there Beretta? Apparently I have a short but I can't find it :(

Those dam fusable links are pissing me off!

I have never had an electrical problem with a Beretta. I've only had two and never had an alarm so...... I'd look to the alarm as the problem.

Well the keep blowing because they are telling you that there is an issue somewhere, Also you can't replace a fusible link with a fuse holder unless its a high amperage holder and style fuse, Trust me, I replaced my alternator wire due to a fusible link blowing and I tried a large blade fuse the first time... That didn't last long as soon as the AC was turned on. I had to switch to ANL type fuses because it was a peak of 100amps.
