How do I disable the Passkey on my 94 Z26
I am hoping some one will be familiar with the issue I am having. I think the thing I need help with is called a "passkey". It is a chip that if not inserted in the slot on the dash the car will not start. The trouble is that mine is worn out and I need to know how to disable it. It is getting to the point where my car will not start. I have never really used it much...but one day I did take it out because cars were being stolen in my area....when I put it in the next day I had to reinsert it several times to get the car to start. When I look at the chip (?) it looks like it is slightly melted...like a fuse does when it has gone bad.
Thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to share.

You would need to figure out the exact resistance of the module in the key or dash "chip" and then splice a resistor into the VAT or Pass-Key line from the ignition. It is a 2 wire line, the resistor needs to go on the module side, after doing this nothing should be on the ignition side of the VAT line. I can post a mockup tomorrow if I get a chance, or if someone else has an image they can post it.
The big thing is that the resistance needs to match the key insert or "chip"

94 berettas did not have a factory passkey system, so it must be aftermarket, Your going to have to post up pictures of what this chip and slot look like.

if its a black "chip" its a resistor system and doesn't matter if it is factory or aftermarket since they are all the same type of resistance system. But yes a pic would help.

Yeah but this sounds like it's completely isolated from the ignition... Most passkey's were a chip on the key itself or something in the tumbler that had to connect meaning it moved, not a completely seperate item you need to insert before you can start the car.
It could be a fuse on the ignition wire for all we know that someone put in as an ignition bypass and has nothing to do with resistance.

Just google "PASSLOCK". You'll get hundreds of results on how to disable the factory Pass Key or Passlock (depending upon whether you had a chipped on non-chipped key respectively) systems.

I guess me saying that a 94 beretta never came with a factory type passlock means nothing, what we need is to figure out what system is installed on this car in order to bypass or repair it.
