Looking for good replacement clutch setup

Looking for some recommendations on a clutch replacement option. was going to run a stage 2 as motor seems to be sickly fast,, 94' quad 4 HO with roughly 90k or less onit. Chassis is 1991 GTZ with 135k onit. Has some nice flowing exhaust , but my clutch is not too good. Was looking at some straight stage 2 setups for almost 400,, seems a bit high,, get what pay for usually though.. Anyone with a good suggestion on a high quality clutch for me maybe ?? also will i need new flywheel??

NOTE... I run car daily ona paper route and she runs good,, would need a clutch to withstang constant shifts, yet performance as well as she is quick.. Thanks..

pretty sure there's a stage 3 on it now , not 100% tough . looking for maybe stage 2+ clutch .. If someone has a 2+ let me know or a package with flywheel (if needed) and bolts. If there's a stage 3 on it now,, will I need a new flywheel when and if replacing with a stage 2+ ?

Flywheel should be the same regardless. I've had a SPEC 2 and 2+ in my car (specclutch.com). The 2 was a little smoother on the street, but I smoked it at the strip (likely more due to the stock slave cylinder hose than the clutch, but something to note). The 2+ is gives a touch of vibration now & then that the 2 didn't...but still very street friendly. A 6-puck 3 will give more vibration, and the 3+ is silky smooth (I have one in my Camaro).

I have used both the xtr 6 puck and the spec stage 3. Both have light pedals, both chatter real bad in reverse sometimes, but both take a hell of a beating.

Clutchmasters Stage 3; it has taken a beating for 10+ years. And Cliff has run one in his car for even longer than that, and he pushes his car harder than I do mine.

Glad to know mine isn't the only one...my spec stage 2 chattered bad in reverse.

The stock line has a flow restriction in it that lightly slips the clutch even if you dump the pedal. (Apparently GM did this to fix an axle warranty problem on the 88-89, but they reduced the flow restriction in the 92+ because they realized they went too far.) With the stock line shifts were very smooth and with the braided line they are jerkier. It took me a little while to drive it smoothly, and it is still a little jerky at times - but the clutch was great at the strip!

Interesting, may have to look into doing that. I think my master/slave were off a 90 so it likely has the restriction. And it would account for all the heat marks on my flywheel/PP.. The clutch still looked really good. Is the SS line you bought off summit a direct fit with stock slave/master?

This again shows Barry's 92+ set up is for the win.. haha

Edit: Pulled off my flywheel and found corrosion had built up between the crank and the flywheel. This was probably a big part of where my chatter came from. I've seen it before with loctite seeping between the crank and flywheel causing a chatter.

And if you're curious to how the corrosion had gotten there; likely due to the car sitting for X years before I bought it from BJ. Then it sat for another 2 years while I was away. And chances are BJ didn't buff the flywheel before installing it onto the car.

The heat marks may be somewhat normal depending on what they look like. SPEC told Woody the ones he had were normal and they were very similar to Roberts, only issue with that is both of those guys had slipping clutch issues.

Yes, it was a direct fit. I got a -3AN brake line with a 90* end and two pinlock to -3AN fittings.

I think the only reason my xtr ever slipped was because of the stock clutch line. I highly recommend getting rid of it.
