Baseball sized hail. Had friends over for BBQ, my Beretta faired the best...hood has a few spots, roof and trunk lid are worst, and small tiny crack in my spoiler:

Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.

Two of the five cars had busted windshield. Mine is only a few months old, so I'm surprised it didn't get shattered too!ronaconda wrote:I'm surprised you still have windows.
Tornado sirens went off about 2 seconds before the storm hit and the news finally said we were under a tornado warning about 5-10 mins after the storm had already passed. Major fail, especially since they kept saying a "chance of showers" all day long!

Damn! I hate hail, but thankfully my hail damage is nowhere near that. My car got hit a few years ago but it was only like nickel sized.
That must have sounded horrible.

I've never actually seen hail this large and it was crazy!! Imagine having baseballs falling out of the sky and blowing sideways! People all around have tarps covering their windows. I honestly don't know how mine didn't break seeing as my car was facing the direction they were coming from!snowblindburd wrote:Damn! I hate hail, but thankfully my hail damage is nowhere near that. I've got to call insurance. I switched from full coverage to liability last week! So I have to call to see exactly when the change was put in their system (which I'm sure has already been done). If I have to pay for it, I have connections with a body shop and will give paintless dent removal a try. If it can't be done that way, then it might possibly be getting a new color in the future.

Thats shitty sorry about the car. This always worries me during spring/summer.
Re: Darn Midwest Weather!!!
Should be covered as long as you have comprehensive. Liability only is enforced if the vehicle is tangled with another vehicle or stationary object while its being driven.

Liability only covers collision, doesn't cover mother nature! lolDTMAce wrote:Should be covered as long as you have comprehensive. Liability only is enforced if the vehicle is tangled with another vehicle or stationary object while its being driven.
And I kinda figured the change had already been made since I had gotten my new insurance cards already!
So no insurance help on the beretta! And most likely they would say the damage would cost more then the car is worth and total it out, so maybe it's a good thing I don't have it covered.
Insurance adjuster for the house is supposed to come out Friday to look at the roof on the house.

Odd.
Comprehensive covers things outside of normal usage, such as deer collisions, trees falling on the car, etc. The way I have my Beretta's covered is like this:
Comprehensive with 0 dollar deductible.
Collision (full) with 0 dollar deductible.
I have a global 500 dollar deductible on the health coverage instead. I can heal, the car can't. But having that gave me a better discount than having a deductible on the car.
Towing/roadside features.
With all that, I pay around 60-70 a month for each Beretta. All of the deer hits I have had have not counted against me, they are just totally taken care of. I use State Farm up here in Michigan.
I think the 03 Caravan (with the same coverage) is around 95 (primary vehicle)... I know having the van and one car active (and one covered under storage insurance) costs me 168 a month. Should be cheaper right now, as I dropped the coverage on the 95 while I'm repairing it to be sold. Probably 150 a month for the time being.
The one time I had hail damage, I had no coverage on the car! It was parked and was off insurance for a couple weeks while I changed agencies. And we got hit with a hail storm, so I feel your pain.

Chris, I think your missing the fact that she doesn't have comprehensive coverage... She only has Liability, she just changed that, I think my Beretta is the same, they would only total it so why bother with all the paper work, cover anything I would cause for damage to someone else and I'll take care of my own car.
Re: Darn Midwest Weather!!!
When i heard hail was coming a few weeks ago i did this. The beretta is in the back

Yeah well maybe she doesn't but in this state, you have to have both Comprehensive and either Collision or Liability. Even if I wanted just Liability, I still have to have some form of Comprehensive. And I always roll with full coverage and no deductible, even on these cars, simply because I can always use the money to help me fix the car, even if its deemed totaled. And I have before with the Z.
Each state is different. Obviously I have a better hand here than most I guess. Just figured she still had comp too, but the rules for it being totaled out may differ and be a bigger pain in the ass there. Here if the car is older than 10 years, they don't even do the salvage title thing. (no actual record of it in other words on your title) You will pay a small fee to for keeping it though if you decide to repair it yourself. You can then repair it and at the most have it inspected by an insurance adjuster (they didn't even do that with the Z) and its good to go again.
