Antifreeze problem
Antifreeze problem
Wierd issue with my 92 Quad 4 GTZ. Took it about 25 miles outside of town yesterday to a friends house. Stayed there for about 5 hours. Left there went straight home, pulled in the garage and antifreeze started pouring out of the tank from under the cap. This is the second time this has happened and last time i just went to the other side of town and back. The gauge never goes passed half and my fan works. Im thinking thermostat or?

Re: Antifreeze problem
bad cap possibly allowing it to boil over since it's not holding in pressure.
Re: Antifreeze problem
May have to run down to the yard find another one and test it out. Thanks.

Re: Antifreeze problem
Stant makes new caps that most auto parts stores carry. They are only $3 on Rock Auto and like $5 at parts stores.

Thank you sir as always
Re: Antifreeze problem
Just chiming on on your seemingly resolved problem (like usual). Bad cap is indeed the typical diagnosis. I had this same problem AT BerettaFest last year. Went inside to Go Kart track after sitting in Indianapolis traffic, come out and shes pissed the bed.
Same problem at the Speedway museum. lol.

Re: Antifreeze problem
If a new cap doesn't fix it, then you know what the other problem may be... Dare I say...

Re: Antifreeze problem
Engine only has 15k on it. It better not be that!
Re: Antifreeze problem
HG is not that big of a fix, but DOHC's do make for more work IMHO
It's just sickening, having to remove so much just to pull the cylinder head off the car.
Thank "_____" (insert your own deity) for OHV engines not having complicated timing chain setups LOL

Re: Antifreeze problem
OHV doesn't have a complicating timing chain but it's definitely not easier on a V6 to do HG... I would almost say I'd rather deal with the timing chain.
2.2 ohv on the other hand, thats like doing the HG on my wifes Midget... simple as taking off the valve cover almost... LOL
