PSA: Tunes are important...
PSA: Tunes are important...
Went on mustang dyno a while back after getting some bugs ironed out at... and let me say this, a good tune is worth every penny.
Produced 495 TORQUE and only 320 HP before this happened...

So I am going to have a protuner have a look at my tune to correct the fueling issues.

Sounds like you need a different shaft, moreso than a new tune LOL
Look for billet or cryo upgraded shafts to keep your engine running as it is.
BTW, i'm fairly new to the site....SOOOOOOOOO....what engine do you have to run those numbers??????

All hail the king! I knew you were making some power, but damn that more than I thought. So by the way that you put it the engine was not at max rpm when the shaft broke....right?
keep'em flying!
Re: PSA: Tunes are important...
There's supposedly more HP, sacrificing some torque (not much will be lost) , that can be discovered for when the tuner takes a stab at it. That's with boost set in the "teens" --- for now.

Motors are stout for what they are. I'll probably flex the block before anything else comes apart. Assuming I dont mess it up between now and the scheduled time for the person I want to refllash it.

Re: PSA: Tunes are important...
True, but it is the main drive shaft from the converter to the chain.
That was a 4t45e trans though right? Might want to go 4t65e to get all the hardened goodies they have that has easily supported high HP SC'd 3800's
I'm still debating that, but only after I finally break something.

Re: PSA: Tunes are important...
Currently have a 65E with oddities taking up space near it somewhere on the shelf waiting for spring 2013. Won't have time this winter to mess with any of the cars. If this modified 45E held what it held, then your 60E should never ideally break with what you have in it now for the power you're probably putting through it. The shaft that broke was one of only a few stock or OEM parts. I just didnt have the time to wait for a treated shaft.

Re: PSA: Tunes are important...
My only other reason to go to a 65e though is the fully electronic shifting pressure and time control, and availability of a few more treated parts... Where did you get your replacement treated shaft? and what did you have done to it? I may do the same to one I have and have it on my shelf waiting.
