Anybody have luck with GM FSM's ?

I have a definte hatred of Chiltons. Every one I've ever purchased has been incomplete, or outright wrong on something, usually what I'm trying to do at the time. I'm not saying the Beretta's version is bad, but I would just like to avoid having to purchase one if I can.

I'm looking at GM FSM's on ebay and they look pretty thin. Are there 2, one mechanical and electrical, or just one, specifically for an 89 if someone has one?

Are they pretty thorough?

There are 2 books. Book 1 is the mechanical and it's a thick book with thin pages.

Book 2 is mostly electrical stuff and is about half as thick as the mechanical.

I think 1989 is still one book? When you get a little newer with the airbag and then ABS they use 2 books.

Best books in my shelf. Im not touching the car before checking what they suggest in there - out of curiousity.

Thanks everyone. I'm not terribly mechanically inclined but I can follow and understand instructions quite easily. I've always ordered FSM's for every car I've owned and they've been the best. I'll go ahead and order one. Even if I take it to a mechanic I bring it for them incase they need it or it helps to keep them from rushing through something improperly.

For example, little things like proper jack locations. I'm not going to just willy-nilly throw a jack under my new to me beretta, it's been a long time since I've had a car/truck without a full box frame. I'm not going to risk bending something trying to change an oil filter or diagnose a small oil leak, or flip my front gtu rims because they're backwards.
