The truth about aftermarket headlight bulbs...
I know I hate them. They are really annoying in an oncoming vehicle.
It's also harder to see at night in the rain with these things...

The truth about aftermarket headlight bulbs...
i have to disagree with some of those statements he made about bulb life. I bought those cool blue bulbs about 5 years ago for my Z26 and they never burned out after constant use with DRL's and the 100k miles of driving i did. according to his findings they dont last as long as regular bulbs in which I had to replace since they had burned out after 4 or so years and 60k miles.

just read the whole thing. Its true that looks have a lot to do with it. My bulbs are warrentied for life or as I say the life of the company. I dont enjoy snow or rain very much with my bulbs as the light reflects back so much more than with standerd halogens but when theres nothing falling they are so much brighter and make colors so much easier to see.

But your DRL's use highbeams at 60% lighting and not the bilbs you changed
I agree that some of these high end bulbs have incredibly short lifespans.

I went and bought Phillps replacement bulbs that are extended range bulbs (25-50ft) says the package. They aren't the cool blue bulbs, but I like them they work alot better then the ones that were in the car. I have tried the cool blues but for the price of those compared to the ones I bought. I will stick with the ones I got now.

the arse pirates with the blue headlights need to have their fingers impaled repeatedly with a nail gun. you think they might look great, but it doesnt do you much good if the guy comin towards you cant friggin SEE YOU!!!! those blue headlighs would look great stickin out of the owners eye sockets ÂÂÂ
just because you might have crappy night vision, doesnt do a damn bit of good if the guy coming towards you loses HIS.

I'd never heard of Osram bulbs til I read that site. I found out tonight I have those bulbs in the fogs of my '90 Z. They're just standard 55W and they work great. ( now that the housings are good.....)

I haven't installed my PIAA star whites yet, but the way I look at it, no one else has a problem blinding me - so I couldn't give **** what they think...  if I do decide to feel bad, it's just my fogs, I'll turn them off.
As for the light output, I bought some generic bluish lights off ebay a few years back, and although they may not have as many Lumens - they really did seem like I could see better. (I guess it's all about perception.)

I have silverstars and def worth the money, these things rock, but I don't think those are what we are talking about here. We are talking about the blue bulbs. Silverstars look pretty normal for the most part.

Fog lights without blinders for t3h win!
I had blue lights already when I was a teen because they were "cool"... The low beams were alright but the highbeams were horrible and I tried to convince myself they looked better... Never happened I got sick of them and put standard clear lights in from sylvania and that was an improvement.
I find most of the time when someone blinds me it's because they dont have a clue how to adjust headlights.
I also hate jacked up pickup trucks with a passion and their headlights or foglights they mount at eye level if you are in a beretta.

That's actually exactly what I experienced. The lows seemed better, but the high were actually worse.
