Transporting Cars
Transporting Cars
Anyone ever transport a car from state to state before using a transport company? Im thinking about buying a car from a friend in Florida with no motor. I live in Iowa.

Re: Transporting Cars
I have years ago... I know they're are transport broker type websites where you can put in the shipment info and get multiple quotes from various companies.

I have used united roads twice in the last year they were a bit more the second time, but they got me both vehicles under the estimated time and dident mess around with me.
Re: Transporting Cars
I have looked into it, when I was going to buy the car from California. Honestly it was way cheaper for me to drive out and get it, also they charge a lot more if the vehicle doesn't run.
Re: Transporting Cars
Yeah I asked about 5 companies for quotes and i got between $1000 and $1300 quotes. Man thats crazy.
Re: Transporting Cars
Yup, they quoted me 950.00 and I drove out there for 350.00 so its just not cost effective, unless u have someone who knows people.
Re: Transporting Cars
There is a website that you can put info into and they will send that info to like 20 or more shipping companies. Then they will get back to you with quotes. I was surprised at the quote I had once, something like $400 and it was a pretty good distance.
Just type in "Auto shipping quotes" and go from there.

If your in a well traveled area its a lot cheaper and faster to get it moved. If your like me and in some state nobody cares about, it gets expensive I paid 1150 to get it from Dayton Oh to Billings,Mt.
All I can say is, make sure if your going to get it shipped do your homework on who ever you pick because a lot of them are just out to rip people off.

Re: Transporting Cars
I just had my Camaro I bought on ebay shipped via transport company in april. it ended up running me $650 to have it moved about 1300 miles. If your not in any hurry... the company i used was alpine auto transporters. the guy i sold the X11 to, had it shipped to maryland from IL in non running condition for $900.
