So a while back I posted that I was up in the air about keeping the GTU or buying a corvette. I did both! I bought a 1984 Corvette for almost nothing, because it had an "electrical gremlin" that I fixed with 2 fuses (rofl).

I know some of you that know corvettes will say "OH GOD WHY AN '84?!" Here is the thing, its not crossfire injected anymore. It now has a 600cfm edelbrock carb sitting on a high rise edelbrock intake manifold, with a hilborn scoop sticking out of the hood. Also it has a high-flow catalytic converter with no mufflers and an MSD HEI distributor. The trans is a 700r4 auto with a manual valve body with ratchet shifter ready for install, once I figure out how to install it without destroying my center console. Sure, it doesn't have as much power as an LT1 (maybe, I haven't put it on a dyno yet and I have no idea how much power it makes.) But as it sits right now it will be very easy to supercharge. The 'vette was actually made in 1983, so I'm not sure if that makes it any more rare, also it has the z51 suspension package. Anyways, enough talk. PICTURES!

As for the GTU, it will be driven in the winter. Which is bad news, because it has only been driven in 2 winters in its entire life and it currently has zero rust on it. So needless to say I will be winter prepping the living hell out of it to try and prevent rust.

There is no preventing rust, only slowing it down. You need big mud flaps, cavity wax and under-body coating at least.

And it's normal for cars to be manufactured in the prior year to their actual model year. Just like my 94 Z26 was built in October of 93.

Neat little C4 btw, and good riddance to that junk crossfire injection! lol

I love C4 Vettes. Seeing how it was manufactured in '83, it must have been late in the year. 1983 was the only time that Corvette skipped a model year because of the redesign.

I've tossed around ideas about looking into a C4, but probably an early 90'sand model. These cars can be bought for next to nothing and are still a lot of fun to drive.

The rear plate is an old plate that isn't on the car anymore, so I didnt much care to black it out.

Also, linking the specs on the '84 vette does nothing, I know what they came with stock, this is no where near stock. From GM they came with Crossfire Fuel Injection, which was a fancy term for throttle body injection, just with two throttle bodies. The reason why this fuel delivery system was such garbage, even versus a carb is that the two throttle bodies were very small and the intake manifold design was even worse. TL;DR it choked the engine.

The reason why I even mentioned that mine was built in '83 is because not very many of them were, most of them were produced early '84, due to re-design and engineering. The difference between an '82 C3 and even the '84 C4 is insane. The jump to an '85 is even bigger, as the '85s got tuned port injection.

I still have a soft spot for these Vette's, I grew up with posters of them on my wall. Probably got them from a Scholastic's catalog in school LOL

I like the changes you are making. I'd be tempted to reinforce it heavily and run a 6.2 diesel in it. If my old 6.2 could get 25MPG in a 4WD brick (83 K5), I wouldn't doubt you would see 22-30MPG average and still have TBI 350 power levels. Turbo makes it more like a stock to mild BBC, so extrapolate :D

why an 84 they have to be the most ugly body style, should have got an 82 and back now that's what I'm talking about :beer: nice motor though man

Awesome looking corvette man! I love corvettes of all generations but c4 is still my all time favorite. Can't wait for the c7's to roll out!

Because its mine and not yours. =P
I like this body style, and seeing as how the beretta took some design ideas from this body style corvette, I don't see why you don't like it either.

Can't. Even with a low profile intake manifold any decent sized air cleaner will not fit under the hood, even the low profile air cleaners can't have a wingnut or anything holding them on, except for the fact that they hit the hood and push the hood up. Also, if I got rid of the scoop, I would have a mighty strange looking hole in my hood. Also, this will eventually get a superchager, so the scoop stays.

I think its funny how you can see the off-centerness of the engine when you have something sticking up through the hood like that.

Not many people realize that an engine in a RWD vehicle is typically moved to the right for driver space and whatnot.
