Yeah those things rot out every now and then. Checked mine one time and it fell apart when I touched it.
The weep hole on the pump? Time for a new one.

Did you cut it with distilled water? If not you need to flush the system. Dex-cool and tap water do not agree.

My diagnosis! Bad waterpump caused by running shitty dex-cool! Get rid of that crap ASAP!2.2H8TA wrote:It did leak a little more, but not much, so I bought a jug of straight up dex-cool, and cut it 50/50. Anyone have any Idea what may be causing this leak? I'm gonna go ahead and buy a new water pump, belt, and thermostat, and have that done later this week.

So when I replace the water pump, I should have the dex-cool flushed out, and just use regular green stuff? Isn't there a reason for the dex-cool? I know it gunks crap up bad.scd88ga wrote:My diagnosis! Bad waterpump caused by running shitty dex-cool! Nothing good comes from dex-cool IMO, the green stuff is better! I've heard and seen horror stories about dex -cool eating aluminum and clogging up radiators and heater cores because of it!2.2H8TA wrote:So when I replace the water pump, I should have the dex-cool flushed out, and just use regular green stuff? The cap wasn't really rotted at all, just had a pin hole in it. I can't belive not 1 of the like 10 different mechanics that looked at this missed that! Crazy!Money pit Beretta wrote:Yeah those things rot out every now and then. Checked mine one time and it fell apart when I touched it.

By weep hole, I mean the hole in the plastic crap underneath the car, on the pass side.

It's just something that most people don't think about. But I do agree with you.

Then you may be referring to the heater core drain, meaning the core is bad...2.2H8TA wrote:The cap wasn't really rotted at all, just had a pin hole in it. And Boiled water vs distilled is not the same thing you just made the dissolved mineral concentration higher by doing that but ok... http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4569943_do ... illed.html

Why can't I find anyone who sells AC Delco water pumps? Everyone either has GMB brand, or cardone. Any input on which one may be better?

If there is no coolant coming out of the pump then it's ok, that is if it's not broken.
Rock Auto sells GM pumps. If you heater core is bad or leaking then skip the pump.
The heater cores are prone to cracking by the way.

Re: '96 Z26-Video Link On Pg. 12
How can I tell if it's the heater core? It seems to leak about an inch more toward the middle of the car, in relation to the weep hole. In my 95 2.2 retta, the heater core went, and it leaked more toward the middle of the car, and this is more toward the pass. side wheel. I have NAPA finding me an AC Delco pump right now, and I knew about R.A selling them too. I just want to be able to go and pick up the part. I called the dealer, and of course they have em', but for $170.00!

Check the lines going to the core then... You already had an issue with the thread in quick disconnect fitting on your lower intake... that could be leaking again. For your sake I hope not. But other than that the two lines that connect to the core are both in that area so you can check to see if either one of the lines are leaking.
Bottom line... you need to get under the car and get a flashlight to see where its dripping from, otherwise we are just guessing.

A few new pics. Washed and waxed on Saturday, it's rained twice and I've driven about 100 miles so it's not spotless. More to come, I've been scouting locations. These were just taken where I park at work.
