Re: my beretta..
i'm not completely sure, do a quick search and you should find the info... but i think the v6 and the 2.2 lt trannies have the same bolt pattern, the quad was the odd man. the 2.2lt tranny (isuzu) was said to be weaker by other members in the past.
Tom: no, my truck has 16" chevy z71 truck wheels, they do look similar though. the indy rims are on my car now, but will get a refinish for spring.
it's a tough decision to make keeping it a quad or not... and that's completely up to you. i would have jumped on that w41 engine that was offered to you if i could bare to look at another quad. even borrow the money, and save the project for later at the parents or something. yes it would cost more money to put the v6 drivetrain in your car, but i love the reliability and simplicity of the v6's.

No you can't but an auto trans bell on a manual, think about that one a little harder... There is no bell on the auto... lol And you WOULD NOT want 4 cyl gearing on a V6 and vice-versa anyway, your thought process is completely backwards on that... The only reason the quad and 2.8/3.1 V6 bells swap is because they are both getrag 282 transmissions. If you want a 5 speed, find one out of a V6 GM car.GHOSTOWLGRID wrote: Wait. Pause and rewind.
The bell housing can be swapped out so as to let the I4 manual trans fit the 3.1L v6 engine?
Darn. Now I wish I took that trans from the junk yard.
Sorry if I'm hijacking but I have to ask:
Okay, will the bell housing from the 3.1L v6 automatic trans go onto the I4 manual trans so I can use the manual trans on my v6?
I'm away at school, I can't do anything relevant till I get back home and do things; so I have to ask.
My issue is getting the trans to mount on the engine. The rest is manageable like the clutch parts, other mounts.
(As for the extra torque from the I4 gearing, that will be fun for the occasional burnouts. Plus the way I am with a stick, I tend to stall the engine easily.)
Auto...
Manual...
Also, your Impala cradle swap idea won't work either, especially when you can just use the existing frame rails and mounting locations. All this info is already all over the net, do some research before sounding so silly.

Re: my beretta..
Oh okay, I got the wrong idea about the transmissions.
Thanks for straightening it out.
I'm done now, I don't want to use someone elses thread.
I kinda figured the impala engine/trans swap is already done and posted, I only thought of it a while ago and only mentioned it.
