1989 FORD Probe GT 5 Speed Turbo for $300?
Re: 1989 FORD Probe GT 5 Speed Turbo for $300?
The only picture he sent me was a somewhat far away one directly of the front end, that is partially why I asked him if it was actually a GT because the front bumper looked different than the GT ones on google.scd88ga wrote:The GL's and GT's look way different...

I'm now looking at a loaded 1992 Teal Beretta GT for $300, says it knocks but runs and has current inspection.
Sound good or not? Not sure how easy it would be to sell, and it would make a great winter beater to keep the salt off the GTU...but I shouldn't think that way lol

Loaded? On CL? Got a link? You might be able to part it out and break even if your bored or something. If it's rotted, and inspected, just run it till it dies. 300 bucks on a running car is a good deal anyway you look at it. You can scrap it and break even.

I may still buy it, but I'm gonna wait a bit to buy it I think. Only thing is the guy doesn't think it would make a 50 mile drive back to where I am. Looks pretty nice, has sunroof and the only cosmetic problem I can see is there are two places where the teal pealed off in the drivers door area where there is a small dent down low behind the drivers door. I'll get the link and maybe post a pic later today.
Offtopic, but what is up with people buying the GT crosslaces up everywhere?? I cannot find any to save my life, they are always sold off the car right away.

There are not a lot of them to begin with! I saw a good set at my local yard the other day and was shocked.

I want crosslaces so fucking bad, I'd almost be tempted to trade my OZ F1 Racing Cup rims for a nice set! That is how bad I want a set.Styluss wrote:There are not a lot of them to begin with! I saw a good set at my local yard the other day and was shocked.

Well, I may actually be buying a 5 speed manual 4.3 Chevy Astro for $300, its in pretty good shape, no body rust. It needs rear frame rust repair for inspection though, which runs out in around 2 months.
The 4.3 was rebuilt as was the trans, and its the original owner who special ordered it selling it.
I figure, either repair it and keep it as a daily driver, or drive it for two months and part it out and scrap it.
Anyone have experience with these? Did not know they came in 5 speed manuals!
I must be catching "buy old GMs fever" or something!

Ive heard of 4cyl 5spds but not 4.3 5spds. Sounds cool. I had a 97 AWD and loved it. They are fun to drive and most handle pretty well for a van. So solid too, nothing like any other minivan. Just not alot of room to work in the engine bay.
Some years came with plastic leaf springs which have been known to break.

yeah they are pretty rare! i think they only came with that option till like 1992 max? the s10/sonoma's and jimmy/blazer are even pretty rare to be had with a 5spd. they were more abundant hooked with the 2.8 motors as well. who the hell wanted a 5 speed van? lol (i would, but only for shits and giggles...) making your family jerk heads on the way to soccer practice is just silly...
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

Yup, it's an 1986 "shorty" 8 passenger window Astro van, 5 speed w/ 4.3
Never knew they made stick shift Astro's, and I hate to say it but this van may be a fun car actually! LOL

Just HOW BAD do you want a set?? My snow tires are currently on a set of black crosslaces... But I REALLY like them too.GTU89 wrote:I want crosslaces so fucking bad, I'd almost be tempted to trade my OZ F1 Racing Cup rims for a nice set! Well, unfortunantly the Astro went to the junkyard, so that is out of the running now. So it is down to a 86 Fiero and a 96 Sunfire Convertable, not sure how nice the Sunfire (guy has not gotten back to me yet) is and I am waiting on the fiero guy to get back to me. And if those don't work out I guess I'll just throw the little bit of money into my project car.
