Isaac, the C6 and XLR use the same chasis and are built in the same plant in Bowling Green, KY. Hence, RebelGT pointing out the available XLR. I am set on the C5 as it's dimensions are closer to the Beretta.

Wow thats pretty cool. Re-use some of the beretta trim, add a few filler panels wrapped in black textured vinyl cloth and you've got a door panel! You do have electric windows, right? That's a must for a sweet ride this will be!

So do you have a wrecked vette ready to use then, or you got those door panels seperately?

After you get this completed, go to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and demand to be allowed to park in the "Corvette only" spots.

Seriously though, I admire your work and dedication on this and I really hope you can get it completed with minimal problems.

Issac, no power stock. But will be converting locks and windows. I really am not ready for the C5 rolling gear yet. I have one subframe for fitting and will purchase another. That way when the C5 rolling gear is here I can drop the Beretta chasis right on it and start buttoning it up.

Obseessed, I wonder if they let me run the autocross in April at Beech Bend? I'll only be a few pounds lighter than them.

I love the black-gloss engine bays of some of the classic cars. After 18 years mine needed an update. But first I sprayed it with rubberized undercoat for sound absorption, primed and finished with gloss engine paint.

I fitted up a C5 rear subframe to the Beretta. I bought it early in order to do some beta fitting for brackets/adapters. The leading edge looks to tie into the stock spring perch and the trailing edge will mount to the floor pan next to the rail. There was some concern that the Beretta rails might be higher than the C5 and the chasis riding too high. This is about as low as it will go without the independent transmission drive shaft contacting the rail putting the wheel into the wheel well. I might have to shim the height a bit.

Hopefully it will work without much wheel well gap, but that's better than the cv or tire hitting the body!

Have you figured out length wise dimensions? Like where the motor will end up? (engine bay or halfway underdash like Fbodies?)

Isaac, the engine will make contact with the firewall. The more rearward weight bias compared to the stock FWD, forward bias, setup the better overall balance.

Jeff P, modern day sports cars don't have spares. Wait until you see the differential/transmission mounted to the rear subframe.

I had some offline discussion about the rear subframe and it's angle in relationship to the chasis. It is designed to not be perpendicular to the mounting. I don't know why but here is a pic on a C5. Notice the coilover shocks.

Norm you must have picked the wrong picture. I only see a rear C5 suspension with a monoleaf spring, removed tie rod and removed rear swaybar.

Is the shock hiding somewhere up in there?
