Limited space, more direct influence for better cornering, better absorption with limited clearance?? I dunno, I'd like to know that too.

My guess is mainly for a smoother ride, but I would have to study all the implications to give a good answer. I don't really feel like trying to figure it out.

I am trying to mimic the C5 design rather than reinvent the wheel...excuse the pun. The setup on the C5 is first a passenger car, and secondly a performance or sports car. So some fundamentals are thrown out the window both as a passenger car and manufacturing cost. If some of the suspension was steel, and not aluminum, I could have more area for changes.

Coming along nicely Norm, can't wait to see this beast once it's finished. ÂÂÂ
That 'Vette actually doesn't look too bad at all for being wrecked.
Gonna do some more stripping on mine over Spring Break, but it still has to be in rollable condition cause I'm gonna be doing the real work in a different garage. So, unfortunately I can't do as much as I'd like yet.
Wish I was as far along as you were.

definitly looks like a good find, doesn't look like the suspension took any really hard blows, do you know what the circumstances of what looks like the on track incident was?
oh yeah, if you have any interior bits and switches you can part with let me know, I need that kind of stuff for my car too, heh heh.

Not sure of the history or any other details on the C5. I'll know more next week.

Yeah, it was an online insurance auction. I guess my winning bid was not enough. I think it cost around $250 to enter a car. If they enter it in a few auctions and got much more than my bid then they might have made a money.
I am still watching salvaged cars along with drivers with modifications like twin turbo systems or head and cams or superchargers for the best deal. There are some nice modified C5s out there, but twice I need to pay or want to pay.

Just find one in good shape and worry about power adders later. 350+ hp will be plenty along with the awe/cool factor of a RWD L body.

So is that the new target? What year is it, any other specs would be cool too.

Nice, found another one! and it's M6 as well! Is the subframe in good shape? Aluminum likes to crack under stress...
You woulnd't happen to be able to find a trans am dark grey t-shifter auto handle from a 4gen would ya? I wonder what the price would be....
I have one from a 85 TA, but they must of changed the tolerances in later years as it fits my beretta, but is loose and twists some... (the notches are skinner than my beretta)
