I might have missed what year you have, but when installing the headliner back into my old 94 I accidentally shorted the connection for the dome light. This caused a small board under the steering wheel to burn out and I had to replace it. What you describe is exactly what happened to me.

Left is burnt out board from 94 Z26, Right is from 95 base

apologies if i didnt mention....i have a 94 base. can you give me some details on that board's location and what it does. i may be able to drum one of those or up. whats involved in swapping one out?

That's the features module they come in different colors you just have to grab the same color and plug it in... The are blue pink and tan... Kits under the dash on the left side of the column
