LOLVTEC wrote:Alright so I made it to the junkyard today and got everything I needed from a 95 3100 Beretta/Corsica. One thing though... I got the 94+ fuel lines, but how do you adapt the end of them to the threaded body lines...? How did you do that Kurt or were yours not threaded on the body of your 93? That's the only thing I'm seeing here. I also noticed that I need to swap the 3400 thermostat housing onto the 3500 LIM.

I noticed people talking about filling your motor mounts with some kind of Poly like filler, what's the stuff called and is there a walk through on how to do it? Do you basically just take a whole mount and fill it in with the stuff? I imagine it makes the mounts a lot stiffer?

Anyone have any idea about the changes that need to be made to the vacuum line system or any kind of sensors that are different?
#1 - They're not threaded where they attach near the strut tower.

#2 - Google.

#3 - It's plug and play.

Dude, you're n00bing me out. I know you know how to work on stuff, but apparently not research at all.

Ahem... ; )

If those aren't threaded I don't know what is... From what it looks those are the body lines and the rest of them are steel like you see.

No I was under the impression that they needed to be adapted until you said something about how you can just swap 94+ fuel lines on. I suppose it's my fault for not checking the body lines on my car to see if they were threaded or quick connect or not, but I just kinda went with what you said not even thinking to check. Either way, I'm not a total n00b!

I ordered some of the Shore Poly today. Going to look into some VHT Universal gold for my engine/trans and probably subframe and suspension, make it look a lot better.

I guess even after the whining that no one responded to your long list of questions and I took the time to try and explain what I did with Roberts car STILL went unread.... Come on your better than this... Roberts car came with two adapter lines, I have no idea where he got them from or really where the guy who did his original swap got them from since I can not find that type of fitting or adapter anywhere, it might have been a custom made thing and he had the ability to make the rubber o-ring style threaded fitting, I just don't know.
3X00-Modified wrote:Roberts 89GT had these ends on his body lines... the female version,

I had two lines with the fittings pictured above that adapted to the newer style clip disconnect, ends looked like this the left hand side on the bottom.

The return line worked fine, but the feed line was not working with the way it was bent, and it was such a short adapter I could not bend it properly to work. I had to cut off the quick disconnect that you pictured above from the fuel rail to get just a rubber line and buy the fitting pictured first with a straight metal pipe on it, I bent it to the right direction to work flared the end and then put that in the rubber line and clamped it using fuel injection clamp. I would have rather had a no clamp system but the fittings out there just didn't exist unless I had a tool to make the quick disconnect style end, or the rubber o-ring style end which I do not. If you do any metal line to rubber with fuel, always flare the end a bit so its larger than the standard diameter that way when the clamps in place its almost like being on a barb type end, it can't slide by the flare.

Who's whining? I saw and did read what you posted, and I appreciate it. It was my understanding that what you posted was the way it was supposed to be done; until Kflo said something about just swapping on 94+ L body lines. I went with what he said about it and found out the hard way that at least for me, it's not going to work. I was just inquiring to him what he did if they were supposed to work in the first place (if his body lines were threaded like mine or not).

Should be getting a lot done in the next few days, I'll keep you all updated.

Picked up some things at the junkyard again. A couple 5 speed shifters and assemblies, found a shift plate in decent condition. Also found a matte black GTU spoiler. Might be interested in selling it. Also found a light grey center console lid in decent condition too.

Made a little bit of progress on the engine. Resurfaced the block and did the water pump. Put my ARP studs in and am just waiting on the heads to be done at the shop. Once they're back I can get them on.

Waiting on my VHT spray to come so I can get to painting and detailing.

My ghetto parts washer; a 15 gallon container and about 6 gallons of pure purple cleaner:

...crap works!

Hopefully gonna get to pull the old tank and clean it, then install the fuel pump and what not. Hopefully get that and the rear suspension put together and get started on the engine bay/front suspension.

Pure Purple cleaner will discolor aluminum just a FYI... Also how did you go about "resufacing" the block?

Are you talking about how purple cleaner makes alluminum look oxidized? I knew that but I figured it's not a big deal since I'm going to paint the parts anyway.

I used an air polisher and those little 2" polisher/sander discs meant for resurfacing gasket areas. I did every area that has a sealing surface on all the parts... took a long time, my compressor was running all night...

What type of wheel did you use, I only ask because some of them take off material and you need to be careful with how much work you do to the head surface that's all.

When I did Roberts I used the Bristle brushes that 3m has and they are designed for gasket surfaces and will not remove any material that will affect the seal.

And yes that is what I meant on the purple power, just wanted to make sure you knew so when you removed the stuff and it was a darker color you weren't pissed.

Got a fair bit done today. Took the trunk lock cylinder to a key shop to have a key made. Pulled the gas tank and am really thinking about just buying a brand new one... this one is full of crusty nasty varnish... I think it may be beyond saving... I had bought a new pump and strainer but after looking at the whole assembly on this one I may try to buy the whole thing as well... I wanna be on the safe side and not have to pull the bitch out again...

While I was under there I dropped the whole exhaust system... I like that it was bolted to the car rather than completely welded, not sure if it was like that from the factory or not. Pulled the rear suspension down, will put the Eibachs and Bilsteins on after I get the fuel tank situated again.

Removed the old steering rack, seperated the trans from the old engine... found that the thin alluminum midshaft bracket I have is indeed cracked... I read about that in Roberts thread for his build... I don't want to use another midshaft, what's my best option? I feel like I could have another one made of better material and probably larger dimensions for stregnth.

After I get the rear end of the car situated I'll start working on the front suspension. I'll pull down the whole deal and start pressure washing and cleaning it all up. Paint it all up nice and pretty and put it back in.

Is there a thread about how to install the poly control arm bushings? I've never done it before. Haven't really looked at it too closely either to try and figure it out.

Oh and btw...

Robert (or Jon), when you filled your mounts did you do this one as well? (The trans mount):

Looks like it'd be a bit involved. I found this walkthrough on a Honda forum, looks pretty straight forward:

I (might) be able to get you a 94 J body midshaft (jackshaft) like the one I sold Robert for his car! I know of two possible cars I could get one from, but I'm not 100% sure if they are 94's (might be 91's, 92's or 93's)... It's a 94 only part.
'94 Quad 4 H.O. 5 speed Z26, Red & Rare! 1 of 896 Quad Z26's and of those it's 1 of 167 red paint/gray interior!
