Trans Question...
Dang man, it's hard to tell. Could be the CV, is there a hole in the boot? I had to replace the wheel bearings twice because I didn't change the seal in the back of the steering knuckle. Thought it looked ok, so I didn't do it the first time and it only took just a month for it to go bad again(just FYI).

****... now you got me thinking cause when I replaced the WB I used one off of my GT before it went to the scrapper and I didnt replace the seal. Quite possible that it went south again because of that.......
found the picture of the wheel when I bought the car and the original reason to replace the WB....

The big dent in the wheel? Curb check? I can see why you put the Z-26 wheels on, they look so much better! Yea, that trans shifts great.

Trans Question...
Well after driving the car on the parkway(main highway here) last night and today to get stuff for my daughter's party, the car is making the noise almost all the time now. Sounds horrible. I need suggestions FAST. Otherwise I'm buying something else. I'm a 6 pack deep right now and I'm thinking about the damn car when I should be sleeping this party off.
I drive tehis car daily to get my kids from daycare. It needs to be fixed so I dont get stuck one of these days with my kids in the car.

You try jacking the car up and grabbing the tire and wiggling it around?

Trans Question...
Not yet but I planned on trying to see what the hell is going on with this thing tomorrow and that's on the list. Just getting pretty frustrated.
One other note now that I'm remembering things a little more clearly, when I pulled out of my driveway and put it in drive the trans went right into gear no problem. I went about 5 feet, then the car bogged down like it was going to die, maybe not related though. However it seems like the car doesnt have the balls it used to(wspecially when I get on it and I hear the noise). Runs good though. I'm thinking that I'm going to drop the pan tomorrow and see if there's anything in it, after trying to see about the WB's on BOTH sides.

One thing at a time man. Wheel bearings first and then go for the other problem. I can tell you that I saw a car that lost the wheel, rotor and caliper because the wheel bearing sheared off. You know what's wrong with this car, if you get something else you have no idea what will be wrong with it. Keep up the good work and hang in there.

Trans Question...
Just looked at it and the passanger wheel bearing has play in it. I'm going to the sotre now to get it and replace. If this doesnt fix the problem, I'll drop the trans pan and see what's going on. However, the wife and I are in agreement that the car will be sold if this does not fix the problem, and I will buy something else. I cant keep sinking money into this thing.

Well it's STILL making the ******* noise. HOWEVER the shaking is gone and the alignment has been corrected with the new wheel bearing. Now I have to drop the trans pan and see what the hell is going on in there. Getting closer.... but EXTREMELY frustrated.

Trans Question...
After reviewing your videos and TRYING to hear the noise... I'm going to say its your P/S pump and NOT your transmission.
Ignore my previous post, I did NOT see the link for videos before.

I was going to quote the other post but I'll respond to this one......
It does only make the noise when it's driving. The more I get on it, the louder it gets but it does not change frequency. I have had PS pumps go on me before and the higher you rev, the higher pitched the noise gets. IF it is the PS pump, it should make noise when I turn the wheel left and right, moving or not. It doesnt make any noise out of the normal, even if I gas up the engine to put a load on the pump other than idle. It also should make the noise weather I turn left or right correct? It makes the noise when I turn left and when the car is going straight, but not when I turn right.
I checked for excessive play in the axles yesterday and they seemed tight. I'm by no means an expert mechanic and that's why I'm asking questions.
I also should note (I thought that I had this in here) when the engine is cold, I hear that same noise shortly while it's switching gears. This is my reasoning for thinking it's something with the trans or the filter. Doesnt hurt to drop the pan and make sure there is nothing in there.
Dont want to sound like a dick but I just need some answers so I can get this thing fixed. It's my DD and I need it to be reliable. Just dont want to end up on the side of the road with my kids in it.

Trans Question...
Wish I had somthing to tell you. It's so hard to pin point anything from a computer. All that I can think of now after the work you have put in is that the differential is going out. Why else would the noise happen to just be there on the one side and the center. I don't know....
Can you go to a trans shop and have it looked at? What does it do when you have the brake and gas on at the same time(power brake)? That's it for me, sorry I've not been much help.

Trans Question...
Well I got it taken care of. I was talking with 3x00modifed earlier and went through a couple things. Turns out that I replaced the filter and now it's not making the noise. Still has a slight sound but not that horrible 'howling' like it did(thinking it probibly coming from the alt or power steering). Quite possible that the filter was restricting fluid flow starving the trans.
I drove it about 20 milesbefore, and so far so good. I'll have to keep an eye on it and see how it holds up. Hopefully I didnt damage the trans driving it the way it was. The car does have 160K on it so who knows.

Great news, but I thought you had changed the filter when you took the pan off. The adjustable vac mod can run the pressure to high and the pump will make noise if it is set to high. Here is the link for more info on it http://60degreev6.com/forum....pioneer
