Trans Question...
When the vacuum Modulator goes(or is on it's way out) what would the symptoms be?
I STILL have that noise coming from the trans area while the car is driving. It's louder when I turn the cheel and drive...... NO it IS NOT a cv joint. It's a metallic sound that sounds like a bad bearing.
Now it's getting worse and happening louder as the car warms up. While the car is cold, it makes that metallic noise when it shifts gears. I dont notice it after the car gets to normal operating temp. The car shifts good though, and the trans fluid is not burned or smell funny. I dont know........
Could the vacuum mod be going bad and creating the noise?

Trans Question...
As I'm sure you know the vac mod controls the pressure. You could try the vac mod so you can be sure about the trans. You have the 4T60E right? Issac Hayes gave me the part#747017 for a Pioneer adjustable vac mod. Use about two turns to start out. If you need more info just tell me(he gave me a great link for that). I'll have to look it up in my E-mail, they got rid of the one I had in my Messenger. The wheel bearings will make noise when you turn and make a womp, womp noise while not in a turn when they get very bad. There is one more thing, the bolts on the caliper need silicone grease on the sleeve. When the sleeve goes out a pad will rub on the rotor(had that happen to my 90 and yes only in a turn). Check that first.

Do you have a link to where you got that vac mod from? How much was it?

Trans Question...
I got mine at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Do you have any of those stores in your area? I can't remember how much it was, something like $10 or $20. If you can't order it at a parts store near you try http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/440T4_4....888.htm

Trans Question...
Thanks for the link! I dont have an o'reilly around me but the advance autoparts by me has the red stripe one for $15 in stock(from what their website says). I'm going to go there tomorrow and pick it up. I'm taking the day off tomorrow cause I have a bunch of **** to do for my daughter's b-day party on saturday. I'll make it a point to get that mod in and see if that fixes/helps my problem.

Sure man. Don't forget about the caliper sleeves. The thing is on that, I never did the work(took it to a shop, couldn't find a way to get them out).

Trans Question...
Well I put the vac mod in there and the noise is till there. The trans shifts nicer though. I'm going to take pics for the calendar and when I go there I will try to get a vid of the noise.
New findings though. The noise DOES NOT happen when turning right(weight shifted to the left side of the car). The noise is coming from the drivers front. It makes the noise horribly when turning left and it makes the noise slightly when center. Also the more load on the car(the harder I push the car, meaning if I hammer it and have it under a decent load) the louder the sound gets. So as some said over on bstuff, I'll look into the axle now. I dont think it's the wheel bearing that I have replaced that twice already. Wanted section here I come.........

Trans Question...
I wonder what the magnet picked up in the trans pan.................
Could be a failing internal hard part (diff, shaft, etc)

When I did the trans service about 4K miles ago(car was making the noise then as well) it was not bad. No big particles at all......

Exactly. And dont forget this car has 160K on it as well....
Ok...... Video time. I took 3 videos and cut them up a little so you can hear the noise. It does it on left turns and on straightaways but not turning right(I have that in the vid too). The third one was me just beating the car before I saw a cop and quick had to shut the camera down.   Dont mind the oil pressure I never put the digital OPSU in yet and the tach is off.
Let me know what you think,............

Trans Question...
(1988GTU @ Oct. 17 2008,13:50)QUOTEAlmost sounds like a heat shield rattling. ÂÂÂ
Nope that was one of the first things I checked before thinking it was something to do with the trans/axles. Hitting the exhaust makes no sound..........
I should also note as I did over on bstuff, that before I owned it, it looked like it was curbed on the drivers front tire. The rim was slightly creased, fender was screwed and the wheel bearing was bad(which is why I replaced it). It does shake on the highway over 60(the tires were balanced well and I never had a shaking issue in the GTZ which is where the tires came from). The struts are weak but not totally blown.
EDIT.......
What' is up with this site and not liking videos from photobucket? If you cant see the videos here's a link to them...

Check the dust shield for the rotor, it might be bent up a little.
