Beretta Z28
Re: Beretta Z28
I believe the rear end from a 3rd gen camaro is approx 2 inch narrower and bolts on i believe . ....but still the front would be way more complex. .....id rather embrace the width and go with the flares ....i really dont think they will be to hard to fab ...and I think they will add some visual interest and help visually plant the car

Re: Beretta Z28
Cut the body in half and add a 2" strip down the middle... LOL it could work
Then of course you would need a custom windshield and rear glass... Scratch that idea lol

Re: Beretta Z28
Believe me ......my buddy has mentioned that ......hahahaha I thought about it for about one second........

Widening the A and C pillars to retain factory sized glass is doable. Can also just say eff it and use acrylic or polycarbonate custom made windows.3X00-Modified wrote:Cut the body in half and add a 2" strip down the middle... Re: Beretta Z28
Theres a shop that did that to a 69 Charger, except they did it at the hips since the car is so wide as it is. But there would be enough material in a Beretta to stretch out the sides. That would be cool. A real "Feretta"

Re: Beretta Z28
progress has been a lil slow lately. ment to post this awhile ago. or thought i did. Got the Beretta lower rad support/core support notched for the drain and fan shroud and dropped it down about 1.5 inch to make room for the camaro radiator and dual fan setup..... just gotta make a top bracket and should be set..
Re: Beretta Z28
Stitch welded the body flanges in place ...gonna sit her down square her up and tack the body to the frame so I can start planning for roll cage and seat mounts.

Re: Beretta Z28
Are you going to leave the angle iron on there after you weld the body to the floorpan?
For that lower radiator mount - If you have any C channel - cut it at 45* on both sides to form a triangle and weld it in to reinforce it being lowered - should make it stronger.

Yeah ...angle iron will stay. Thats what bridges the gap between body rails and inner rocker and supports the body......and good call on the lower rad support piece ......I thought about doing somerhing like that but figured that it was good enough for now.

Re: Beretta Z28
Very cool - when you get the body and floor pans welded together - I'm assuming you will be permanently attaching them together?
I've seen some race cars where they have made the body/shell removable from the floorpan/rollcage.

Yeah .....was eventually gonna weld it as one ......just gonna tack the body on for now until cage is done fitted in there so I can lift it back up weld the cage then weld it for good
Re: Beretta Z28
Actually tacked the body to the frame and rolled her out for some fresh air. Its really starting to look like something.!!!!gotta get a plan going for the next steps

Re: Beretta Z28
It's got fins like a '57 Cadillac and a trunk spoiler off an '09 Honda Accord?
The wheels stick out like a Clown Car!
Should have maybe checked with this guy on how to build a RWD properly.

Everything lines up and a rolling chassis is out the door for about $15K, certified to 8.50's.
Just a thought.
