A little update

Sunday i was able to get the trans pan dropped and change out the filter and top off the fluid. Turns out the trans was about 2qts too low in the system. Prolly explain why the TCC was acting funny...or did it. After getting the pan off and inspecting things, the inside casing of the trans looks pretty good. Bad thing was, the fluid was almost a chocolate brown, and the filter had never been removed. It still had the GM part number on it. And to top it off, the filter decided to break into pieces at and around the neck, so digging that one out was alot of fun. So i got the old insert out, put in the new one and new filter, new trans pan gasket, new trans outlet line, and topped off the fluid. It seems to be shifting better and now the TCC will go into lockup at around 45-50 mph with light pedal.

So i ran a lil experiment. TCC will not engage when you have more than 1/4 pedal, even if your cruising. Now, i have been noticing some mild dead spots in the TPS since the day i bought the car. If you go easy on the pedal, whether in 3rd or 4th, the TCC engages. If your any more than 1/4 pedal into it, it will not. So my guess on this is matter, my TPS is causing the problem with the converter not locking up. Now, in my wifes 95 Grand Am V6, which has the same trans in it, it will engage on anything less than 1/2 pedal. So i think i will be changing out the TPS and see how that does. Get rid of the dead spots in the pedal at the same time

I also got a short ram WAI installed to replace the nasty dirty paper filter that was in the box. And it opened up a lil room for me. I just need to get the intake supported so it will stop floppin around. I'll get pics of that one later.

Ahhh looking at your car brings back memories. My very first car was a Grey 1991 Lumina Euro sedan. I've always like the styling and the way it drove. My only complaint was the fit and finish of the interior on those cars, but I still loved it. A person never forgets their first!

What else is in store for this - wasn't the grill a bit different on the Z34? That would be a nice touch if you could find one of those. The exhaust change was excellent.

The Z34 grill was planned for this, but now im just gonna leave the stock front grill. I like how it accents the vents on the top of the hood. Only thing left i have planned is just what i mentioned in the previous page: Euro fender trims, grey back seat (folding if i can find one), better condition carpet and a floor shifter steering column. For performance, i will eventually get the exhaust redone from the engine out.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you really like late 80s-early 90's GMs? lol

Looks good, you need to paint that trunk though and get a set of center caps. Did you tint your windows? I need to have my Beretta's tinted, how much does that usually cost? I heard that Berettas are harder to tint the windows on.

I dunno, I think you should pick up this rare 1990 "ONLY" Lumina Euro grill I found at the yard today and paint it to match! I think it's sweeeeeet! :D

Yeah while those are kinda rare Brett, im not really a fan of them. Plus, they dont really flow well with the Z34 vents. You also cant shave the badge on the grill like you can the other two :)

Sides, i think the Z34 look is back on the table :D

Anyone needs z34 parts let me know there's a 92 or 93 in a junkyard near me and honestly a bumper cover is like 20 bucks so probably full ground fx under 100!! It's got a 3.4L DOHC I'm gonna see if I can get me hands on it and swap into a future beretta but not my GTZ, perhaps an Indy clone!!

Well, seeing as how i have no beretta to share pics of anymore, im gonna keep updating this one. Also have another i will post up.

Yesterday i finally got the rest of the exhaust on this car done. I went to O'Rlys (lol nice) and bought a couple of Flowtech Raptors on a gamble. Since the stock Z34 mufflers suck balls, i changed them out with these. Overall, im very pleased with how they turned out. Later today i wil try and get a vid of it, but it sounds pretty mean for a 3.1 i think.

Pulled the Y-pipe back out after i get the mufflers tacked on and finished the welding off the car, made things so much easier! Install my 98 Firebird Formula tips i have had for a while and get it all a quick spray with some paint.

All done :)

And like i said, i'll get some vid later today.
