Went to the junkyard today and scored some good condition filler panels. Just has some scuff marks maybe they will come out with a polish. I only cleaned them with Windex. On the back while removing it I broke one clip. Here's the pics.

Cool, is that Filler Panel for the GT or GTU?

Holy hell though, did your GTU's paint really peel that bad in the last year? Only reason I ask is I was going through this thread and it looked like when you got it in 2011 the paint peel was only on one spot on the hood, and now its all over!

Both cars look great though.

I going to add the filler panels on the GTU. As for the paint, it keeps falling off every time I wash the car. I just let the paint fall off I do plan on repainting it white. The good thing is that it is only the paint falling off and not the primer so it has not gotten any rust.

I did the same thing (swapped to black fillers) I may be going back to clear fillers though, as I have my hands on some nice clean, not dirty inside ones. Only thing is they are off a base so they don't have the red strip on them, and I don't know how well spray paint would turn out. That and my sub rattles it way too much, actually broke the top one off one of the mounting posts, lmao.

Even though the paint is falling off, I really like your GTU, looks like your keeping it pretty nice. A new paint job would be awesome on it. I'm lucky, mine was repainted sometime before I got it, and they used a single stage paint. So no nasty clear coat peeling for me! I wash and wax mine so much it's not even funny.

For the filler panels I prefer the transparent ones over the solid black but I am don't mind having the fillers solid black. Since it is hard to find them in good condition I will take any type. But if I do find some clear panels I will change it.

I thought ACE made some red stickers for the fillers.

Nope, that was me that had them made out of 3M outdoor commercial grade reflective red tape. I sold them for $5 shipped a set. I'm out of them right now, but I could have more made up if anyone wants them?

I'd probably be interested in a set. Do they last pretty good? Like, do they fade or peel fairly soon or are they about as durable as the factory ones?

To not hijack this thread any more, just PM me and I'll put you on a list, Once I get a few on a lists I'll make the call to have more cut up. As stated, the material is very durable and will last just as long if not longer than OEM. This material is quite expensive! I don't make any money on these, I pay $20 for 5 sets, add in stamps, envelopes and the 30 mile round trip to pick them up and I about break even. Merely a favor to the community. ;)

Sorry, I wasn't thinking, sorry for hijacking this! And before I go back on topic, saying it is outdoor commercial grade tape from 3M doesn't tell me much because I have gotten garbage from them (3M) before. Thanks scd88ga, I'll PM you then. Guess I couldn't complain for $5 either way though!

Ontopic now, yes, the primer will start to rust eventually. Are you gonna do the filler panel letters in red or keep them chrome?

If you do have any clear filler panels though, it isn't that hard to wash them. Just fill a tub (probably bath tub due to size) with hot to warm water and soak them for a bit, swish it around aggressively and repeat until they are clean, I used some dish liquid the first and second time and then just ran new water and kept filling them and letting them drain.

You forgot to say never use glass cleaner. You can use Lexan polish, which is a plastic polish. I found some at the auto parts store, it did help a little with the yellow in my headlights and made them shine. You have to clean them the way GTU89 said first.

I used the window cleaner just to get the dirt off the panels but I do not plan on using the window cleaner on this anymore. I still have not installed it but I do want to give it a polish to see if it gets rid of scuff marks. I do not mind you guys taking here. Hell you guys now made it easier for me to find who sells the reflective strips. I prefer the Beretta letters in red but since the chrome is still not that bad i'm going to leave it chrome for now.

Edit: As for the paint hopefully I can get it painted before it starts to get some surface rust.
