I think i found a Gtu at my local bone yard, i got the rear springs from it, but someone already snagged the front. the registration sticker says it was a 1989, it has an internal rear swaybar, but are these items Z-51? or are they just GT stuff? if they are i could use a set of front springs if any one has some. (or a full Eibach set )
should i grab the swaybars? ive got a set off a 1989 beretta, the option paper read Z-21, is that a heavier set than the Z-51? as you can see i'm full of suspention questions so help me quick!

Chevrolet had plans for about 5,500 1988 GTUs, but I'm not sure how many they actually made (I've heard 3,000)....they started mid-year. Only 1988 Berettas were available with the Z51 Performance Handling Package, which means 1988 GTUs had it, and 1989 GTUs didn't. Z51 swaybars are thicker than the regular GT swaybars. 32mm vs. 30mm in front, and 21mm solid vs. 20mm tubular in the rear (both external). Z21 means it has the GT package so it came with FE3 suspension which includes the stiffest springs available from 1987-1989 (Z51 springs are the same).

ok, so i guess that i already have all the top factory handling stuff other than the wheels and front swaybar. so really the only differance between that car and a 1989 FE3 GT are the GFX?

Yep, as far as I know. Unless you count little stuff like door emblems, dash badge, and Cars & Concepts sticker...and decals, of course
