1989 GTU $1900 Butler PA 16001

Post by 90 Indy »

Hello, I have a 1989 Beretta GTU 2.8L automatic. Vin: 1g1lw14wxky149545. History: My dad puchased this car from a lady(first owner) about ten years ago. The car had a cracked block. Dad put a new used engine into it. He also bought a new gas tank, and factory replacement brake and fuel lines. My sister drove it for about three years. She got a new car when she moved to Maryland. The beretta then became an extra car. It sat on a trailer for about five years. Every once in a while I would start it and hook the battery on a maintainer. Then my wife's grand am blew up. Dad let us use the Beretta until we found a new car for her. Since the car sat for soo long it needed some work. It had a bad oil leak so I checked all of the normal culprits. It ended up being that the intake valley glue bond was broken. I tore the engine down to the block and did head gaskets, intake gaskets, and thermostat. I also put new a new crank sensor, new control module, new coil packs, new fuel pressure regulator, new egr valve, new belt, new oxygen sensor, new alternator, new brake booster and master cylinder, new driver side rear wheel bearing, and new brake pads. I also got a front end alignment done. My wife drove it for a couple of months back and fourth to work until we puchased a new car. Now dad said that he doesn't want to store it. He said to do with it what I will. This is one of those things that you hate to sell, but also you hate to see it sit again. I figured I would post it and see if someone would like to enjoy her for a while.

Car has digital dash, sunroof, electric trunk release, cruise, cd player, power windows/locks, a/c(needs charged every spring)

Good: Lots of new parts, was ziebarted when new so rockers and below door hinges are nice shape, car was never in a big wreck(hit a small deer once), car has never been beat, paint is in nice shape for its age

Bad: needs tires for winter(tires on it were used for summer), headliner is sagging, one spot of rust on dogleg behind drivers front wheel, dinge in hood(from deer), clearcoat is flaking from bumpers, could use a tune up, Fuel gauge works but when gauge hits one bar youre out of gas, crossmember under trunk area could use a little tlc

Here is an album with pics:

I posted this car on sept 7 on craigslist and seems like everyone just wants it for a winter beater. I would much rather just leave her in the corner of the garage then think about it ending up in the junk yard. That's why I posted it here. I figured it would be more appreciated here.

good luck selling the car, if I had some extra money I'd snatch it up right away, really nice price for what appears to be a nice GTU.
