Metal Coolant line for 88GT 2.8

Post by Scanman88GT »

I've noticed that the metal coolant line that runs along the inner fender on the passenger side of my car between the filler neck and what I guess would be the heater core is kind of rusted wher it bends right before the firewall.

I assume that this takes another bend and then goes to one side of the heater core. Can anyone give me the part # for this? My '88GT is a 2.8 w/AC. I've been keeping an eye on this metal line, but it would be nice to have a part # and price as a Plan B here, in case this one should spring a leak.

Thanks,

Rubber hose is usually the fix for that metal line when it rusts out.  OR you could just buy some metal line and bend it to your needs.  That part I think is no longer available thru GM, you'd have to settle for a salvage one if you decide to not use rubber hose.

FYI-- In case anyone needs one of these Coolant Bypass Pipes, GMParts Direct has them for $35.33. The part # is 10065583.This is for an '88 2.8 with AC and manual tranny. I'm not sure if all Beretta years/models used the same one or not.

That's a good price.  A friend of mine replaced the one in his '90 Base a few years ago and it cost him over $100 from the dealer IIRC.
