Oops! Kinda forgot about this place.

Post by Obsessedw/Berettas »

For those of you that remember me, I had the '92 Garnet/Garnet Base to GTU conversion.

I sold it in April, to a fairly clueless girl, for 1700 bucks. It was beginning to nickle and dime us a LOT, and my grandparents were tired of it. So it went away.

Sad news about it though. The girl that got the car blew the transmission. Pretty sure it's junked now. I'm kicking myself for not removing the GTU wheels and gfx before I let it go.

On to the new (well, not new anymore  ) car. I got it in April '07 (a week before the Beretta was sold) for 4500 bucks. It's a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT1, with 111k miles (had 103k when I bought it in April).

So far it's been one hell of a good car, contrary to the bad rep GAs tend to have with people. It has every factory option the Grand Ams could've had, and it was babied before I got it (it still is).

Here's some very recent pics of it.

^^Still shines good I guess. :/

^^You can see the swirls around the camera flash.

^^You can see the porous rough areas from the acid rain. I don't know when the hell this happened (it was like this when I got the car), but it sure did a number on the paint and windows. It's even like this in the door jambs.

^^***.

^^Depressing. Subtract that first one and I'd be happy.

^^Stock. But clean!

^^Mmm. Rubber.

I ordered the GT door badge overlays but FUBARed the install. So that's why the trunk badge is the only one with an overlay right now.

The only complaints I have are the mileage (but that's my fault I guess), the paint (acid rain damage - still shines though), and the transmission slips a tad at the WOT 1-2 shift. I solved the issue by not going WOT anymore.

It gets 24 mpg, has plenty of power, and is way comfy for trips. I love it.

I miss my Beretta like crazy though. I miss the screaming of the 2.2 as it tried to keep up with traffic, the random squeaks and rattles, the vibrations of my subwoofers, etc. I don't miss all the jokes that me and my Beretta were the butt of though.

I pretty much got kicked off of Bstuff when I showed them my Grand Am. I hope that doesn't happen here!

P.S. I want another Beretta. Maybe someday I'll find an old lady-owned Base to tinker with....
