'90 beretta 3.1L - northeastern PA
for sale is my '90 beretta 3.1L automatic. it has about 123k miles.
First, the really bad: It has a stalling issue that leads to a no start problem. The engine will turn over but not fire. I checked fuel pressure and it is a consistent 43.5 psi. It will fire on starting fluid so it is obvious the injectors are not firing. Leave it sit for a while and it will start back up. This is random, you could drive it for a week with no problems or it wont last 30 minutes. I looked up threads where people have similar problems and started a thread on here but admittedly I just don't want to go diagnosing a problem and spending more money on a car that I am going to sell either way. I have the tools, time, space, and knowledge just lack the motivation to fix.
no run issue aside, the car is in pretty good shape. there is some paint peeling but there is very little rust, mainly some starting under the fuel door which I have a picture of. I have a few underbody shots in a picture album. i have a set of michelin ice-x snow tires that I will include that still has many winters left in them. the car was an absolute animal in the snow with these tires on. Aside from the no start issue when the car does decide to run it runs well, transmission operates smoothly, no vibrations or uneven tire wear. During my ownership I replaced the battery, replaced a small coolant hose, new fuel filter, new swaybar endlink, relatively new starter (about 20k miles) and a cheap ebay "cold" air intake. the factory air intake had a tear in the rubber and the ebay one was cheaper to replace. The engine was replaced by previous owner with unknown mileage. The windshield was also replaced by the previous owner and while it was out he took the liberty to secure the sun warped dash with screws. Its not pretty but the dash isn't going anywhere. There are also thumb tacks holding the headliner up. They were there when I got the car 2+ years and 20k miles ago so I didn't touch them. The car has a working remote start. It leaks some oil, I usually added a quart every 1500 miles. Passenger side speakers are blown but the important ones (driver's side) work.
The A/C compressor clutch does not engage when the A/C is turned on. The system held a charge. The wiring leading to the A/C compressor appears to be the culprit as it is cut. I do not know what the previous owner did with that, I just used the sun roof as an air conditioner but the fix could be easy.
With all that said I am asking $500 for the car. That includes the snow tires and I'll even throw in a chilton's manual! Once the stall/no start issue is fixed it is a reliable daily driver for well under $1000 total or could be a good parts car. I figured at most it would cost in the $200-250 range to fix assuming it needed injectors, much cheaper if it was anything else. Could probably snag them from a junkyard for cheap too if you like junkyard hunting. If I get lowball $100 offers I will load the trunk with scrap metal and drive it to the recycling yard a half mile from here. I would rather not do that, I would like to see it go to someone who will have a use for it instead of it going to the crusher.
I do not frequent this forum often, I will try to check daily on here but a better way to get a hold of me would be to call/text my cell at 61 zero - four four 2 - 962 four.

Is the Big Gay Al sticker on the side included?
In seriousness, it does seem to be a solid ride. Too bad it's too far away for me!

Due to how many posts I have it wouldn't let me put the link to the album in the first post because it said it was possibly spam linking off site, seemingly due to its length. second post has the album link which I made as soon as the forum would allow me to post again. the location is also listed at the bottom of the 1st post. You can also see that I did not edit the post to add it in later. Stencil didn't have a problem finding either.Styluss wrote:Thanks for including pics and location! That will help your sale for sure.
Haha I wondered if anyone would notice that. My roommate has a vinyl printer at his shop, likes to print up random stuff and put it on cars.Stencil wrote:Is the Big Gay Al sticker on the side included?

Seems to be very good in terms of rust issues! And clean inside.

I may be intrested in this after I find something to do with the red Z. We are close, and this car appears to be in good shape rust wise. I may be in touch in the near future.
