Z26 seat rocks... no the other kind of "rock"

I looked around here and can't find any info... I have Z26 seats in my car but I have always had a problem where the drivers seat has a slight rock front to back. Its worse when you tilt the front of seat cushin up. Is there a fix for this? I looked under the seat and see the problem sort of.... it has to do with the center track. I can't be the only person who has had this problem.... ?

By far you are not. I replaced my track and it just rocks a small amount now. Almost makes me think that the plastic wheels on the side have something to do with it. Before it would freak the crap out of me if I hit the gas too hard. Felt like the seat was not bolted down for a second. Hitting the brakes after that made it rock forward. Got on my nerves in more ways than one.

My Yellow Indy had a problem with the driver's seat slipping on the base-tilt adjustment -right after I had stripped the seats down to foam, washed the covers, rebuilt some of the sagged and compressed foam, and reassembled them... Grrr. It felt like I was getting dumped into the back seat under acceleration when it would suddenly break loose. I found some rust on the teeth that hold the seat base in place, and the teeth were also very badly worn, probably from slipping due to the rust. When I had the seats out, I also pulled the carpet to clean it out too, and found one of the side-tracks had broken its' mount sometime in the past and the mount had been re-welded in. This car only has 153k miles on it. Clearly, GM didn't make these components uber-tough. I think most of our cars have or will have excessive wiggle within the seat-tracks, or worse. If it gets too bad, I would suggest either getting a new roller (for the side tracks) or shimming the tracks if needed to take-up the excess space once parts start wearing down. I really don't know what to do if the slack is in the center support, I would have to look into it more closely to see if I can come up with a fix. It wouldn't matter which type of seat you have though, the base frame and tracks are the same for all of them, except for the non-tilt-base seats, of course.
