Heater Core Bypass..
Heater Core Bypass..
Ok.. my damn heater core went on me yesterday, and my beretta peed all over the road. Since it's winter here, I can't really be without a heater core, but even worse, I can't be without a car. So I did some searching on here and found out that I can bypass the heater core all together, and have done so. In the mean time I'll just go Canadian Tire and pick up an interior car warmer.
Now for the questions.. How long can I run the car this way? And is it really good for it?
Also.. I had to take the hose from one plug on the heater core and join it to the other one because neither one is long enough. I have the 2.slow in an 89 base beretta. To join these hose, I used the inlet from the heater core that broke off. But I'm getting a leak here after the coolant heats up and starts to foam. (I assume the foam is because of air getting into the system?) Is there a way I can join these together successfully? The heater core will go in, but I have to get the time and some nicer weather.

Heater Core Bypass..
It is safe to bypass the heater core. You'll just loose your heat.
If you goto your local parts store, they should have the bypass hose for you ready to install. It might cost around $15.00 bucks USd. Replace them clamps with new ones so you don't have to go in at it twice.
Goodluck!

Heater Core Bypass..
For a 2.8 setup, I think 7/8" hose that's 2'6" long will be fine.
2.8mpfi though.
