Flaberetta has power steering problem.

His power steering pump has been making noise for as long as I have known him. But recently it has started really screaming like a banshee. He was quoted two options.

1. Pay $400.00 to have it replaced.
2. Pay $100.00 to have it flushed.

He wants to know if the flush and cleaning will help his problem or will he end up having to have it replaced anyway.

And I am posting this for him because he doesn't have internet access right now.

I would say he just needs to replace the pump and whatever else. A flush isn't going to do him much good in the long run.

A flush isnt going to do any good if there is internal damage. The noise is a tell-tale sign of internal problems or low oil. Just get it replaced. ÂÂÂ

I think he should buy a new one from the parts store for just under 60.00 and replace it himself.  He could do a spill and fill himself too.  Or buy the rebuild kit for about 15.00 and rebuild it.  Time to take out the old tool box.
