One of the bolts is missing that mounts the seat to the floor board. ÂÂÂ I can't get one of the other ones out to see the size. ÂÂÂ Does anyone know the size of that bolt (torx head)  It's a '95 Z26.

Steph,

Thank you ! ÂÂÂ I'll pick one up today.  I hope there isn't a rust problem in there on the other side???

Craig,

It's a '95.  I've put a lot of work into it and finally got it running good.  I think it may need a heater core though.  (I put a heater core in my Corsica one time so I know how much fun that is!)  You're not to far away, just past the Speedway right?

You might want to give each of the bolts a shot of that PB Blaster spray from the inside and leave 'em sit overnight before you try to break them loose. It worked great on my 88GT.

Do you access the inside of the bolts from under the car or under the console?

If you find a rust problem you can repair it with a bit of steel and a welder.  Just cut out the rust, tape the steel in place and mark the bolt hole, drill it out, attach the seat and tighten it down, put a small weld on the nut under the plate to keep it from spinning in the future and align the seat perfectly, weld the plate down to the floor, then coat with VHT paint and add a bit of undercoating if needed in your area.  You can use other paint but VHT is very resistant to moisture, salt, oil, etc.  and lasts a good long time.

After further investigation it looks like the metal on the other side has rusted and broke through with the bolt still rusted in place.  I'm going to soak the bolt with penetrant and try to get it loose.   I will still have to do some welding in there though.  Thanks for the tip.
