Cuts out when I top a steep hill (sometimes)

I have a 91 Gt with a 3.1. It cuts out sometimes when I top a steep hill,not always though(beats me why). This has been going on since about November. The guys that work on my car can't seem to find out what the prob is. I just had the fuel filter changed a few weeks ago. It's not hard to start,but every once in a while it will "sputter" on a restart. The last time it done the cutting out going up a steep hill it done it longer than before & I smelled exhaust real strong.Could it be the oxygen sensor? The engine light doesn't come on when it does this though. I've had the coils checked & they seem to be ok & had them replaced within a year ago.

Do you have any other symptoms? Are you lower than 1/4 tank when it cuts out on the incline? is it under power when it cuts out or idling?

No,I very seldom ever run it under 1/2 tank & when it does this it's always got more than 1/2 tank of gas. It does it when I get to the top of the hill,after the road levels back out.It does fine while I'm going up the hill. It's been a little while since I put gas treatment in it & I use STP. Maybe get a gas treatment a little more potent might help?
