Pads and Rotors, Your Preference/experience.
Ok, so as some know I'm in the process of upgrading from the cheesy 10.2" discs to a set of F-body brakes... 12" rotors. Now I'm asking on here to see what peoples preference is in brands out there.
I was thinking of going with just plain ole Napa Premium rotors... not that expensive but they are the same brand I use now and have come to like, and also their Adaptive One pads... Napa also has a "High Perf" rotor which is slotted and drilled, I'm assuming its just their premiums with modifications to them.
Now I want to know what peoples experiences are with other brands, Power Slot, Power Stop, EBC, Baer, Summit, and so on...
Believe it or not NGT may be able to answer this question better since he has access to a F-body board where I'm sure this has been discussed before.
Now the same goes for the rear... If I get something that's drilled/slotted I would love to have that exact option available for the rear, so take that into consideration, But then again I may only go with a slotted back there, since drilling is not necessary due to not much braking back there, and also drilling a solid rotor is not the best idea, then again it could help in heat dissipation too. SO if possible I would like the similar brand of rotors to be out there for a 97 Neon.... Yeah I know that makes the search harder, BUT I will compromise if I hear of a really good brand for the fronts, that hasn't produced rotors for a neon.
Also keep in mind I do not want to pay out the @$$ for these, so no recommending $450 pairs of rotors. I'll stick to plain jane $80 ones if the only reputable "sporty looking" brands are very expensive.
Applications I'm looking for
2000 Camaro Front Discs (and similar models, 2000 Impala.... ect)
1997 Dodge Neon Sport Rear Discs
Also info on what pads people like use and rely on... this will be a street driven vehicle run at the drag strip... MAYBE sometimes at an Auto-X event but not a regular occurrence.

Re: Pads and Rotors, Your Preference/experience.
The Beretta just has some ACDelco rotors on it, but I haven't even driven on them yet. Previously they were just some Duralast ones from AutoZone which I didn't have any issues with. (they were put on just before BFest last year). Before that, it was whatever was on it when I got the car in '98.
On the Alero however, I have a set of Baer DecelaRotors. They've been holding up fine with no issues over 30,000 miles. They're the drilled and slotted variety. Their solid rotors are not drilled, but dimpled. The Denali has DecelaRotors on it as well with no issues, even with towing.
Even for plain rotors, the quality of the Brembo rotor is really good. It was noticeably better on my dad's old Q45 where there were issues with some cheaper ones.
The pads however are most always a compromise. Better stopping performance usually equals more dust. Lots of the guys on the V series forum swear by the Hawk pads. I just use the Duralast Gold pads from AutoZone, they don't make too much dust and the stopping performance is plenty good enough for every day use.

Thats two for Hawk pads (Geoff Recommended Hawk HPS), and also a highly chosen pad from the J-body guys who do this swap...

To sum up what I said on 60* to your thread.
Rotors, unless you are going for looks, plain janes. I get $15 each OReilly ones and they have never gave me an issue.
Pads do matter a lot. Brake best ones suck, lots of dust, don't stop well. Wagners work much better, and hardly any dust at all. I'd go for something decent in the pad area, but nothing too exotic or expensive.
No need to go all out on rotors etc since you are going to bigger brakes anyway, which is an upgrade itself.

Just because they are bigger doesnt mean I should cheap out on the brands... I'm getting the Centric Power Slot rotors and a set of Hawk HPS pads. That should be a good combo, and not have the drilled rotor issues.

I didn't say to cheap out on pads. But the rotors are just steel. How much did each of those run?

Check out r1concept rotors. I have them on my 04 Monte Carlo SS and 03 Grand Prix GT. The E-line will be fine unless you are autocrossing. The premium version handle higher temps, that is the difference. They are zinc coated so they will not show rust. The standard rotors will be $36 for neon rears or $76 for drill and slotted rears. Impala fronts are $65 or $105.
