recharging my air conditioning

i was wondering how to recharge my ac myself. the bottle said there should be a blue or black cap coming off the compressor. there is a blue one and i cant get it im not sure it that is it or not. it is on a u shaped pipe on the compressor. i need help. it is getting hot and i need my ac.
it is a 95 z26 3100
