Shift Cable Question~Help Please
My Beretta is a 91 GT with a 3.1 My main question is do the automatics have a shift cable or just the Berettas with a manual tranny? I'm asking because when I came home today & put the car in reverse to back in the driveway the shifter button popped up & it went into reverse (it's a little hard to explain) ,but anyway I backed in & to make a long story short, after it done that the shifter indicator is "off" now,for example when the tranny is in reverse the indicator is on neutral & drive it's on second. It goes into all the gears fine though. The best way to put it,is it's like in the rear wheel drive cars when the linkage is off. Has anyone else had this happen or have idea what would make it do that?

Yeah, there's a single cable in the automatics.. The manuals have two.

Re: Shift Cable Question~Help Please
Ok, I thought the automatic tranny in the Berettas had one too. I'll get it replaced when I have my oil changed next week, but won't be driving it. I had one that broke in a Celebrity I had years ago,the clue for it was I had to push the gear shift up for the reverse lights to come on.It done that for quite a while before it broke, but I'm not taking any chances....the last thing I need is a tow bill
Thanks for answering my question.
