cracked radiator

Post by pghz26 »

the radiator on my 95 z26 3100 just cracked where the hose enters from the engine. im going to replace it myself. i was wondering if i needed to get a specific radiator because i have ac or if i can just get one for a 95 3100 and put that in. basically im wondering if it matters when purhasing a radiator if i have ac or not. becaused gm is full of genuises that build a radiator out of plastic.

Um, EVERYONE uses plastic on their radiators now... Also the 14yrs of age doesn't quite strengthen plastic.

They will ask if you have AC but it doesn't matter, the condenser bolts to the front of the radiator its not part of it.

If you get a good new one it will not have a seams on the tanks. The one I bought for my 90 didn't and it cost me around 180 bucks. I don't remember what brand it was, but it was for sure not a GM. Check your trans lines to see if they need to be replaced, now would be a good time to do so. That way you wont have to pull the lower hose again.

You can still purchase metal tank radiators brand new. APW and a few other sites carry them.
