No engine check light/where is the engine coolanttemp sensor

Post by Pioneer31 »

Hallo,

I own a 1992 Beretta with the 3.1 and 3-speed automatic transaxle.
I can't read out the engine trouble codes because I can't get the engine check light ("Service Engine soon") in the instrument cluster to work. Changed the bulb, but it isn't that.
How can I check if the wire is good and what else could it be.
Also the "Brakes"-Light is on all the time from the moment I start the engine. Could this be because of the very old brake fluid? (The car stood for four years at the previous owners garage, have to change it this week)

My second question is this: Where is the engine coolant temperature sensor? I can't seem to find it. If I pull the connector from the sensor, the coolant temerature shoul be at "0" and the fan should start turning, shouldn't it?

Thank you very much,
Christian

Did you check the brake fluid? There's a level sensor in the master cylinder that will turn on the "BRAKE" light if the fluid is low.

The level is ok. It is just really old. Think it is compressed to much once I brake. Because that's the moment it comes on.

Anything about the other problems?
