3.1 cylinder head to 2.8 engine

Post by Dan88GT »

Will a  3.1 cylinder head fit on a 2.8 engine?  The guy that owned the car before me striped out a plug hole on the back head, now I have to replace it.

I had a friend with a 99 ford f150... the spark plug blew completely out the head!!!.. actually ripped the threads up and everything... i tapped it with a helicoil and flooded the cylinder with oil... we thought for sure it was going to damage the engine... but after all the oil came out... it ran like a champ... its been almost 4 years now and haven't had a problem... I know this doesn't help but may give you an idea

3.1 and 2.8 heads are interchangable, but it is not a hard fix if you have it off.
Just heli-coil it.
It will actually be stronger than original.
