no power anywhere
no power anywhere
Got my 3400 in and everything but no sensors, the computer, the fuel pump, nothing has power. The only thing that works is the starter. I've check ALL the fuses MANY times with a multimeter AND a test light. They are fine. The 'SES' light on the gauges DOES NOT appear at all. Just wondering what controls the power to the engine harness. The car is a 89 base 2.8 harness on a 3400. Please help!

Re: no power anywhere
Your ECU/ECM (whatever the lingo) is not getting power.
Either that or you have very dirty battery connections.
Check to make sure all of the plugs are tight and without any signs of corrosion.
The starter is a direct link but everything else runs through the computer.

Re: no power anywhere
I saw that you still dont have power to your PCM. If you have the pin number that should power up the computer you should check that. I have a manual for a 3100 1995 that has the pin number if you want those. You should also check the ground at the connector.

Re: no power anywhere
At the starter you put the large bundle of wires on the same stud as the main positive terminal right? At that stud is where all the power sources are started for the ECM and such, so if you either dont have the positive wire going there, OR you missed a few of the lugs going on that stud then you will not have power anywhere else throughout the car.
Re: no power anywhere
all the 3 of the wires that go to the starter are there. theres 3 wires plus the battery cable. the starter is brand new and it works fine.

Do your lights on your car work? They should work even if your car is off. I think its not getting power to the computer or the computer is cooked. Just my 2 cents.

Re: no power anywhere
I see that you are looking for a new harness. It is ultra rare that they go bad. Is there any way that you can check to see if there is power going to the computer without cutting anything? You may have to have a friend come over and recheck everything just in case you missed something. You did get the big ground wire on that is on the engine right?

Re: no power anywhere
Did this happen after you did the 3400 swap? If so then I seriously doubt it's your harness. You missed a ground or a power wire somewhere.
Not sure where it is on a 3t40 setup but on a 4t60e the bottom front bolt of the trans housing is a stud that has the main ground wire connected to it, and then there are also 3 or 4 lugs on that which go into the harness for a ground, then there is also one more studded trans bolt in the back below the cross over pipe that has one more ground for the main harness, this is for a 3100 4t60e though, so you may not be the same, But I'm guessing you just missed a ground lug somewhere.

Re: no power anywhere
The car ran alright last year before i had all the problems with the fuel system. Thats when i got my accord and the beretta sat for 6+ months till about 2 months ago when i found a 3400. I've looked EVERYWHERE many times for a ground or a power wire thats not hooked up.. :/

Re: no power anywhere
Just because a fuse checks out doesn't mean it's good. Unless your able to run 12v and the rated amps to do the test. Ok we know that the starter works, does anything else? Like headlights, dome light, wiper motor or the fan for the AC/heater. What was the problem with the fuel system?

Re: no power anywhere
i checked every fuse with a test light and they all have current in them. not sure about the headlight the whole front light harness is missing. lol but the parking lights in the back and the brake lights work.
The problem with the fuel system was it kept just nuking fpr's like it was nothing.
