real KYB GR-2 ?

Post by enduroberetta »

I just bought a KYB GR-2 strut from an online parts place- its black w/ iirc a six digit part # starting w/ a 7. It does have a KYB sticker on it. Reason I ask is that I always knew the GR-2 line to be silver in color, also I just saw a pic of one online and it had the KYB part # and "KYB" stamped on the back.

Anyone know if they changed recently or did I get some sort of fake?

Just a FYI, clean them very good and coat them in a undercoating paint before installing. I have noticed on every set I bought that the black paint does not protect them well, but ones that I've coated and then run last a while, rust wise.
