new to the beretta world.

Post by CrashIn2Chaos »

hey i got a 92 gtz quad 4ho. i bought the car and then driving it home, the motor blew. (not my fault i swear). the guy told me as is. lol. im basically broke and i wanna return the car to oem standers. i gotta find a motor first and a clutch. my goal is to one day ,hopefully within the next year, make it a weekend track car. but for now i would like sum tips on finding cheap good and strong parts. maybe sum tips for the build up one day. and i would defiantly like to get the scoop on the lingo in the Beretta world. if you guys the the things to tell me i got the ears to listen. thanks a lot.

you'll learn in our world the two words cheap/strong don't go together. You have two choices really. Grab an OEM rebuilt motor, OR find a JY quad for cheap and freshen it up. But if you would rather skip the part in between and just start on the weekend track car (since 90% of what you buy to hold you over will be useless) then I would suggest possibly using your block and or head if its still good, or fine a 098 head and start building a quad the right way with some forged pistons and H-beam rods and so on...

Just be glad that you only have 4 holes to fill rather than 6. And the quad has a little more aftermarket over the V6's

kool. and no i gotta get a motor and head. when it blew the 3rd rod snapped and slapped the head. cracked it and sent the intake valve up and inbeded it into the cover. im not familiar with 4cyl motors. i build big and small block for chevelles novas and what not. i was thinking i got a 350 that i built using mostly lunati crap sitting in my garage. that i was thinking that i could try dropping that into the hole. but if i start building for track i gota find a rear end that i can fit in there sence i wanna flip into a rwd. a trans that i can fit in there weather it be for the q4 or a bigger motor. althoe im kinda hopeing to keep the q4. i gota feeling that the lgo have strong potential to turn heads.

I'm not going to say that you can't do a V8 RWD swap. A guy did it to a Grand Am. Quads are cheap and that would save alot of time and money. Buy a Nova or something and keep the Beretta for a fun DD car.

Welcome to Bnet by the way.

Welcome To Beretta World.
Plan on spending too much money and getting all kinds of slack for doing it to a 90's economy car.
I say GOOD LUCK with whatever avenue/road you take with Engines. They all need a turbo!
