ok so some of u know that my trans is shot i had no reverse no neutral or park..... well the other day i took the ole girl to the res and parked it went in got smokes got back in started her up hit the has and it reved up now it has not done that since everything happend.... well lets just say everyting is working fine now reverse n neutral worked to any one know what i can do to make sure this dont happen agen?

Are you sure it's not the switches in the valve body? You really need to take it to a shop to find out what's going on.

Have the fluid drained and replace the filter. DON'T FLUSH IT!! Just drain it, change the filter and fill it back up with fresh fluid.

Also check all the linkage and make sure everything is tight and well connected.

You are likely looking at a rebuild or replacement in the near future, but that may buy you some time.

any one know were to get a rebuild kit i checked auto-zone they do not have one available? the dealer is going to cost a fortchin

If he is old school then it would be hard to understand what's going on. I asked about the switches because I lost my 1st to 2nd and my 2nd to 3rd in my 3T40. I was stuck in third gear. Thinking that the valve body was still controled the same way as a TH350 I just gave up and had it towed. I got a bill for 250 bucks to replace the switches that I didn't know were there. I said "damn, if I knew that I could have done it myself". After that the trans was fine and still was working right at 213k when I lost the car.
I think they were 25 bucks each at the time. Much cheaper than getting another trans. After all they are just switches, they are on or off. They can be good, going out or bad.
You can get to them by pulling the pan off.
