new topic 2.2 1990 lean rich ?
okay after a bunch of testing by a close friend ..it has been determined that my 2.2 's computer is thinking that it is running a rich mix...so as i drive it leans itself out to the point that itwants to stall(and Has) then it realize's that it is running too lean and loads up again to run rich...causing the rpm's to go up and down at idle as well as under power..i had a new computer put in 2 years ago at the dealer for big money(stupid i know)..so what is the general opinion on what might be wrong,,i replaced every sensor ...do i have a fauty computer? thanks for any help

if that is truly the case [and I am skeptical] then I suggest
checking trouble sensor wires for resistance. Once moisture
penetrates a wire insulator, corrosion sets in slowly and can be
changing a resistance / voltage reading coming from sensors.
The throttle body is a HUGE heat source for those sensors, so
if I suggest any, start around here.... how about engine codes?
if no engine codes, how is that ignition system [wont set codes].
I don't know if spark plug gap could toy with us here. I hope
that the intake isn't obstructed by debris. vacuuum line check.
ummmmmmmmm.....
tell is about engine codes. [make sure your light works when key
is fwd in ign. before start, just to be sure it illuminates].
the oxy sensor has a wide range before it screams a code as I use
mine until they disintegrate... that wire is a high-temp resistant
type, but check it out just to be sure.
2.2... diaphragmn EGR system? could I be barking up the wrong
tree with this one?
I hope there are no codes cuz that narrows it down it ignition and fuel

no codes ...the fuel pump and filter were just replaced as well as the mas sensor,,,it levels out and runs and idles fine (10,000)if i unplug the o2 (but not sure for how long)....i put in a new  premium 02  sensor and had the same rpm drop effects,,the  egr is fine..i just decarbed the ports and have a good working valve..couldnt find any vacume leaks.......driving me crazy trying to figure this out..UPDATE..just got into work 42 miles one way..car started up fine with O2 unpluged..idled fine...car had full power and only had very minor fluxuation in rpm a couple of times at around 30,000 rpm ....put in new cam position sensor as well that had no effect.....ozzy
