Questions about eibach/kyb setup
I been planning on doing that setup with my 94, but i want to make sure that the suspension wont make any funny noises because of the lowering part of it. When i lowered my Cobalt, it was bad.. really bad.. The stiffer ride was expected but the clunking and stuff wasnt. Now that its back to stock it doesnt do it anymore
Anyways, do your cars with that setup have any funny noises or movements or anything because of it?

My Cav rides like a truck with GR2's. That car is much lighter, but I've been told that they are not for lowered cars.
How are your control arm bushings?

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
The ones on the cobalt were replaced, on the Beretta i have no idea. I know the last time i drove the Beretta it didnt make any noises in the suspension and i just want to make sure it that if i do that setup on the Beretta that it says that way lol. Thats why i was askin. I probably got this worded all wrong.

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
My car doesn't make a peep... BUT yes the car will ride a bit firmer... that just comes with the stiffer spring and slightly tougher valving on the strut.
I just put MSI springs and KYB struts on my Legacy and DAMN! Finally that car handles like it should have. I haven't even done swaybars and such and it's already WAY better than it was. It also rides a bit firmer but no odd noises...
I would have to say if you get nasty noises then something isn't in right. Lowering a car shouldn't bring out stuff like that unless its rattles.

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
KYB's with Eibachs are perfect for each other. I put GR-2's in the front and Gas-A-Just's in the back. Nice firm ride and lowered. The KYB's take lowering quite well. They like it. It's the AC Delcos or Monroes that will die a horrendous death with Eibachs. I've never had problems or squeaks or creaks, but then again, I changed all my suspension bushings with Energy Suspension Polyurethane when I did the struts and springs.

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
I did the KYB GR2's front and rear with the Eibachs. My car squeaked and clunked at first because everything was shot, lol! I also installed new strut mounts, new sway bar bushings and sway bar link, new control arm bushings, and new ball joints. I also added a Cavy front strit bar and an 88GT rear sway bar. Today I just switched from 205/50/16 Sumitomo HTR Z II's (Ultra High Performance Summer) to the 225/50/16 Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S(High Performance All-Season) tires! The car now rides and handles awesome and is noise-free!

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
I have kyb gas-a-justs and eibach (6 year old springs) at back of my daily driver, the rear suspension makes noises and clunks at bumbs and bad road. I think it's the progressive spring design hitting it self when it compresses.

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
I completely forgot about this thread lol. Thanks for the input, i was wanting to make sure before i bought the parts. I think i will follow brett's idea and just change out all the bushings and stuff while im at it since i dont know how old they are anything.
Jon- I got to looking it up.. The springs i bought for the cobalt were cheap- i think they were 230 shipped or something like that. The company was called Superior Sport Chassis and they are out of business now,i found out when i was looking for the page with the new price when i put mine on c-list to sell. Looking at reviews, the back springs sag quickly and easily letting it hit itself. They were cheap junk i guess. I think when i left the Cobalt sitting around because i was driving the Cavalier is what killed the cheap springs lol. Owell
Hopefully i wont have that problem with the eibachs, since the Z26 will be sitting in the garage during the winters. I guess i will see. Might have to let it sit on jackstands when its being stored or something.

Re: Questions about eibach/kyb setup
Currently mine's not on jackstands... and I don't think sitting like that can hurt the springs a bunch, I think it may hurt the strut more since its stuck in on position for an extended period of time and not in the fully extended position...SummitBalt08 wrote:Hopefully i wont have that problem with the eibachs, since the Z26 will be sitting in the garage during the winters.
