Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
Hey, i just got a nice condition rear spoiler for my car and want to swap them. Now i got some nut's off but 3 nuts are so rusted that something cracked inside the spoiler where the bolt is mounted and now i cant get the spoiler off. The bolt turns when i want to unbolt the nut...
What can i do to get the spoiler off without any damages to the trunk? I dont care about the spoiler but the trunk is nice.

Re: Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
You could get a nut splitter for like 20$ and break the nuts off, or a grinder/cutting tool if you have a compressor. Have you tried pulling and turning with a pliers maybe that way?
Re: Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
The bad thing is the nuts that are stuck are on the left and right side of the spoiler where its very hard to get them off with a cutting tool or even with a nut splitter since there is no space to use this... it would be so easy if the stuck nuts would be in the mittle of the trunk where they are the easiest way to unbolt, lol. I have to think about and will look tomorrow how i can get them off, but still would be happy with suggestions from you guys

Re: Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
You need a torch and a spray bottle with water.
Heat the nut up a lot, then shock it with water. You will then need a fast turning tool to spin the nut off, like an impact or high speed drill. That might work. Problem is, the fastener end in the spoiler is now screwed already, so it will have to be fixed before going onto a new place. And that will be a pain in the rump.
One of mine did the very same thing and this is how I got mine off.
Edit:
Never mind about fixing the spoiler bolts, I see where you are replacing it now. But this still should work for you.

Re: Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
i ended up to drill the nuts out there, took some minutes for 3 nuts but im happy the new spoiler is on now
if i ever again unbolt a spoiler i will do the heat up progress so the bolts will not break inside the spoiler... thanks guys.

Re: Spoiler unbolt question (broken bolt)
You can always treat each nut and bolt with some never seize. That way they won't be an issue again, but typically most people never take them off twice. lol
