What did I do to my 1990 Indy today?

Post by indyyellow »

This weekend I finally got to the front brakes. What a mess. Pads toasted, caliper pretty much dead. Do put on all new rotors/pads/flex lines/calipers.
We (me and the son) also put on new plugs and wires and the TPS.
Still fighting a slight idle issue. Ganna put on a few more things, IAC/EGR and then look for vac leaks if it still is not idling well. It's close now but I want it perfect, ha ha ha. I know I may be doing to much to gt the idle better but the car is old, lots of miles so why not? ha ha ha
NEXT UP will be back brakes then get a CAT back on the car in hopes it cleans up the fumey smell that comes from the car. Not a unspent gas smell, just a sticky 1970's car type of smell.

Bought all new rear brakes components. I HATE doing drum brakes.

Get a 6 pack and go for em! Remember the golden rule, do 1 side at a time so a man's got a diagram.

I hate them too... one of the reasons why I haven't touched mine yet (haven't needed to since they were replaced when I got my car).

That and I've planned on doing a disk brake swap out back but haven't gotten around to it.

That sounds exactly like my story too, Geoff. The same summer I got the car I had the back brakes done, haven't touched em with anything other than paint since. One of these days, as maintenance deems necessary - discs will find their way out back too. Likely the Neon set up. I've been eyeballing SRT4 parts and let some slip away for cheap the other night, but I don't know if that stuff has the same compatibility or not.
