Mine has a cover that was bent & rubbing on the fw. I'd like to know where to find a good one...

Anyone? is there another GM cars flywheel cover that will fit on my 1990 3.1 motor?
Does it hurt any toleave it uncovered?

As woody said, I think the manuals are Metal covers... Mine on the 3x00 are two plastic parts, one for the bottom and one for around the starter.

As far as if it will hurt anything being exposed... well there is the chance that you can get sand and rocks up in there if they bounce just right. I know the factory stuff doesnt seal it 100% but it does keep out large debris that can mess with the clutch.

1990 will be a one piece plastic part for autos and a metal piece for manual trannys. Any other late 80's/early 90's GM car with the same engine/trans combo as yours should have the part you need.

I read flywheel and assumed manual. I wonder if even a quad cover would fit my getrag. That part of the bellhousing shouldn't be different.

Good question. The starter, being much lower on the 3.1, would be the only reason i could see them being different.

I don't know about '90, don't remember, but all my Quads have PLASTIC flywheel shields.

Well, my flywheel cover has the starter going through it.
