Car Starts Intermittently, Ignition Switch? *SOLVED*
Solution to this issue was the ignition switch.
Hey Guys,
Recently my friend's '95 V6 Base started having some issues. First the key was stuck in the "on" position (which has occurred since, but I can wiggle it loose just fine). Then It wouldn't turn back on.
I checked the battery and it's got good voltage, checked the wires running to the starter and they seem fine, checked the ground from the battery which seemed fine, and then I checked the starter solenoid itself (running a wire from the battery to the small post on the solenoid) and it cranked just fine.
After all of that, I assume it's down to the ignition switch or the park/neutral safety switch. If I tilt the steering wheel a few times and futz around with turning it on all the while, it eventually starts. That leads me to believe that it must be the ignition switch or something connected to it on the steering wheel.
We ordered the new ignition switch for now since it's not an in-store item. That will be here by Monday. I figure it would be best to start there since the p/n switch costs a bit more.
I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts on the situation, or if I may have overlooked something. Thanks in advance for any help =)!

I had the bars under the ignition cylinder get stuck a few times and then break. Get ready to replace those. If you get to a point where you can't shut it off just pull the injector fuse.

Sounds fun. Doesn't seem to get stuck every time, only seen it happen twice in three days. Hopefully the ign switch fixes the other issue.

It starts off as an every now and then. Then one day it gets stuck, turning the wheel helps and after that nothing helps.
One thing you can try is to use carb cleaner where the key goes in. After it is dry put some good oil in there.

Fixed the car! It was the ignition switch.
I have a feeling what you're talking about is going to be the next repair though.

Thanks for posting the fix. So many threads go unanswered that it's hard to search and get an answer for problems like this.
