Take a pic man. With the cover off so we can see the rod that the lock moves.

oh i found that damned rod alright. it was the one closest to the latch itself and i had to run my hand all the way down into the door to get to it. i got back on though, after about an hour of flashlighting and neck wrenching. BUT.............when i got the door back together it slid right back out of the latch that controls the locking mechanism. somehow it popped back out in the process of putting the door panel back on. so if i want to fix it i have to take the whole dam door apart again.

Man that was some bad luck. Never had that happen to me, but I've only done it five times.

after around 4 hours of tinkering today i got it fixed. a flash light, a mirror and a zip ties. the rod would pop out of the eyelet when the door locked so i ran a zip tie around the top and down through the hole in the door frame. made it tight enough to hold it down but not hinder the movement. door lock fixed.........problem solved.
